Our case is cr1 visa., spousal visa., our lawyer is asking my husband to get me ITIN number., is it really one of the requirements?, I'm here in the Philippines. They asked me to send my passport. Does anyone here knows about the requirements?we are already at NVC stage., we already pay the aos and the $230., we need to send the aos and IV pocket.. Is the requirements differs from person to person?, anyone pls?thanks ?

By the way, you only send a copy of your passport and all the requirements should be listed on the site of the embassy. I would recommend reading the above, link it is very helpful. Good Luck

ITIN is not a requirement for the visa.

An ITIN has absolutely nothing to do with the Immediate Relative process.

To clarify you need to send at-least a Certified Copy of your Passport if you proceed with the ITIN application. Your husbands lawyer could be recommending this as it's still tax time and he may not have filed yet if he is choosing to use the Married Filing Jointly status on his tax returns. I just did this and the process takes approximately 3 weeks for the ITIN to be issued and paper return to be processed. But it is not a requirement of the Visa process. Although it could be a useful indicator of a bonafide marriage.
