Administrative Processing BEFORE packet 3

Hello Everyone!

I have a quick question. My fiance's visa arrived at the embassy in China on 5/12/2014. Right now we are in Administrative Processing and have been for 2 days. Is this normal for China to go into Administrative Processing BEFORE receiving packet three? Anyone else have experience with this? Anyone know how long this process usually takes?

The notice per the CEAC website states:

Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed or available within two business days. Under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, Immigrant Visas for "Diversity Visas" cannot be issued after September 30th of the year in which you were selected to apply for a Diversity Visa. For example, entrants into the Diversity Visa Program in Fall of 2011 were selected for Diversity Visa 2012 Program, and selectees MUST apply and receive their visa prior to September 30, 2012 otherwise they lose eligibility to receive a Diversity Immigrant Visa, regardless of additional administrative processing. In addition, please note that some immigrant visas may not be able to be issued if the annual numerical limit for that category has been reached.

I am worried this process is going to take longer than our NOA2 did!
Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance!

Administrative Processing doesn't only refer to the time they take to stamp your visa into your passport after the interview. It refers to any work after they have received the packet from NVC. My status mentioned AP before I got my packets and interview only because they were probably collecting documents to send to me, etc.

K1

Nov 7, 2013 - i-129f mailed to Dallas Lockbox

Nov 16, 2013 - noa 1 received

feb 20, 2014 - noa 2 approved

march 14, 2014 - case received by local embassy

may 1, 2014 - visa in hand

june 13, 2014 - POE: Boston

AOS

Mid-Nov - Potential Waiver of Interview letter received

End of May 2015 - renewed my EAD/AP, got the NOA1 and another letter stating that I don't need to do biometrics appt.

June 11, 2015 - welcome to America letter! (no interview...no service request..)

Thanks! That is good to know. I tried to look it up but the information was very limited on the different types of administrative processing. As mentioned I am worried it will take longer to get our next packet. As everyone else, we are hoping to get an interview scheduled very soon so I can be there as well. Hopefully the Admin processing wont take long.

hang on a mo -

on CEAC status, for Guangzhou casefiles, K-1s and paper I-130's -

the FIRST time you see 'administrative processing' before anything else occurs -

it's the visual

that GUZ IV:

1. has the casefile and

2. opened the casefile and

3. started the next round of namechecks

and this is normal.

Relax.

At this stage, you could pay the fee at CITIC bank - but remember to set up an account over at ustraveldocs.com/cn right after and input the receipt info.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Congratulations on your approval ! We All Applaud your accomplishment with Most Wonderful Kissies !

Well we now have been in administrative processing for 8 days. According to the CEAC the last update on our case was the 12th when they received it... So hard waiting all over again when this was supposed to be a quick step.

not really.

since AP started -

did you:

1. set up an account at ustraveldocs.com/cn and

2. pay the visa application fee at CITIC bank? and then

3. note the receipt # in your account at ustraveldocs.com/cn ?

if all 3 of those, then you can self-schedule for an appointment.

The problem is we are going through an agency. They keeps saying we have to wait till they say to go to the next step but they don't say when that next step is

Also dont we have to wait till packet 4 to schedule an interview?

Thanks for your advice. As mentioned we are going through an agency and every time we call to ask they say we can not do anything till they tell us to do so. So we wait. We are still waiting for AP (have been since May 12th) so I guess all we can do is wait. The hope of him coming home when I move to the states (I live in China) is getting smaller and smaller. I guess sitting back and waiting is our only option.
