There are 2 issues with this consulate.

1. They do not usually accept co sponsors in these circumstances

2. Needs to demonstrate it is a not a care giver being brought

Understanding what you are saying..those point should not be directed at me. The contents of my reference is stick to the questions instead of being all in the man's personal business. So your points are not directed at me.

You are suggesting much more than I am. I simply asked the poster to think about what he might be doing. I also have to question you about 700 dollars a month to feed, clothe and shelter 2 people in America? You are "sure" about so many things. You ask how much more his wife could add? Are you serious or joking? I would guess about 100% for food, clothing and most other expenses. How can you be so sure of so many things? I am pretty sure his income alone does not meet the income requirements to bring in a fiance. I was merely trying to help. I was not getting into his personal business.

And here Boiler makes two excellent points: These are issues the poster will have to overcome. So in the end I was not judging the poster. I was not faulting him. I wish him the very best. I wish no one harm. God Bless

How does someone live on $700 to feed 2 people? Ahhhh easy live within your means. I live on way less than that for 5 so it can be done. If you are debt free, have land, grow your own food, make your own cloths, live off grid. etc etc. Maybe we should talk one day and I "can" not just tell you how it is done but I can show you that it "can" be done. We here in America eat to much, and spend to much. Live thrifty and guess what?!?!? We would not be having staving people.. Now I am not saying that the OP needs to live this way nor am I speculating on me knowing his life but I say stick to the questions and not his personal business. Thank you!

So from my understanding it's really 50/50 when it comes to accepting a co-sponsor? Some say they do accept co-sponsors, and others say they don't. Where can I contact the US Embassy in Manila? I have several immediate family members who are willing to co-sponsor given my circumstances. Also some of you advised against the k-1 Visa and apply for a CR-1?

Yes, it is not a one size fits all and depends on each individual case and the circumstances.

Yes, a CR1 is more solid than a K1 when it comes to needing a co sponsor, there is more discretion with a K1.

You will not know until you try and until they see the whole picture.

Well that is a bit of a let down :( I wouldn't want to file for a K-1 Visa just to be rejected, i'll need to look into the CR1 then, i've already emailed the US embassy in the Ph, hopefully they can give me a straightforward answer about my situation.

You won't get an answer to the question of will they accept your joint sponsor at the Manila Embassy. Embassies are not required to accept co-sponsors on K-1 visas. It is totally within their discretion. Some embassies never accept co-sponsors. They must accept them for a CR-1 visa. When your fiancee gets to her interview, the CO will look at the case and decide if you two as a couple are good candidates to accept a co-sponsor from. If you're fresh out of a decent college degree, or coming out of some other temporary situation of low income, they appear more than happy to accept them. If you're permanently going to be below poverty levels, then they get a lot more critical of accepting them. The embassy can not give you an answer about accepting your joint sponsor until they've looked at your entire circumstance. There will be no way for you to know what they will do ahead of time. If you don't want the risk of getting your joint sponsor rejected, a risk that is higher than typical in your case, then get married and go the CR-1 route.

No it's not 50/50. Not sure where you are getting that from. It's probably more like 99/1 with a K-1 It is rare that a K-1 allows a co-sponsor in the Philippines. RARE. Sorry, but that's the truth. Going the CR-1 route is a much better option for you two.

personally I don't know where you're getting the 99 to 1 ratio for K-1s in Manila. I keep seeing people saying that here lately, but I've seen tons of co-sponsors approved for K-1s in the Philippines over the years. It would be nice to see some place that had actual factual data on it though.

Okay let me correct that statement with this statement: "The K-1 Co-Sponsor denial ratio in Manila is CLOSER to 99/1 than it is to 50/50." Is that better? (Please note in the first statement I said "closer to 99 to 1") You are correct. I am just going by what I have been reading over the past year and a half and it appears that way more often than not co-sponsors are not allowed there than they are. And I think in this particular case, all things considered they don't stand a chance in hades. But that's really just one mans opinion I guess. Have a nice day and Aloha.

I would be hard pushed to think of a case similar to this where a co sponsor has been accepted.

Personally I would say it may not be nearer to 99/1, closer to 9999/1.

Are people being specific here about co-sponsor vs. sponsor?

I ask because we’re applying for a K1 and I have a history of anxiety which I’m on medication for. My petitioner’s parents are acting as sponsor for the K1 application.

Would we have been better off going for a CR1?

My application/interview etc will be in London.

Sorry to thread hijack.

Manila is a very long way from London.
