I wouldn't be concerned about being disabled or receiving disability payments. Honestly that shouldn't even come up in the process. My husband was receiving disability for 2 years because of his dialysis. They cut him off because of a successful kidney transplant. We had started the process 2 months before his disability was discontinued and it caused no issues with us. We didn't have to report anything about it.

Welcome to VJ and good luck with your journey!

The OP stated they have been disabled since birth and unable to work. They only receive disability benefits and they are not temporary. How could this not even come up? They will need to provide an affidavit of support, and their disability income does not meet the income requirement. It is not about 'reporting' his disability to the USCIS or DoS.

I strongly recommend a visa agency to do the K-1 from the Philippines, I had an agency that prepared our K-1 and it was a perfect document!

IF, you need some agency from Cebu, or Bohol, or even Manila, I can recommend a very good one, just e mail me.

Best of luck to you, Filipinos make wonderful wives..,.,.,.,I love my Joy, 1 year marrried anniversay 6-22-14!

Your income will not be sufficient and you need a co sponsor.

Here is a link with some discussion you may want to read about co sponsors at your consulate.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/303348-k1-co-sponsor-in-manila-advise-pls/

You can make a VJ search and find many more threads to read through.

A CR1 would be a more solid route to pursue in your situation rather than a K1.

If you follow the VJ guides (tabs on top of page) and hang out in your regional forum you will get the flow of things you need to know

and won't need a visa service. Some things are embassy specific so that is why I suggest you follow your regional forum.

I been together with my now fiancé for over 3 years, going on 4, long story short i'm looking to file for K-1 Visa in order to bring her for marriage. Now my problem is i've been disabled since birth (unable to work) i'm scared that I will be automatically denied for that, is there something I can do, what should I expect? Should I even file? What do you guys recommend here? Do I have to find a co-sponsor because of my disabilities? Thanks in advance

Do you have income? Doesn't matter if it is disability income

Also, i would email consulate in the phillipines to ask them if they accept a co-sponsor.

Its not 100 percent rejection of joint sponsors in the Manila embassy for K-1s. But they deny enough of them that its not a good bet to use one on a K-1 there. With a permanent disability and income so far below the required level, I would say his chances of getting the K-1 accepted with a joint sponsor is poor. They must accept a joint sponsor for the spousal visa.

With all due respect how would you support a wife if you are only earing 700 dollars a month disability income? You are aware that if you brought her in on a fiance visa she would not be allowed to work for several months. How would you feed, clothe and shelter her in the mean time? Would this be fair to her? I mean I have been to the Philippines many times and most are very poor there but do you really want to bring your fiance here to live below the poverty level? Just something to think about. God Bless.

US Embassy Manila does not always approve K1 applicants with joint sponsors, bear that in mind.

For K1 its better if your joint sponsor is an immediate relative like a parent or sibling.

CR1 would be better, she would have work authorisation from entry.

Please for give me now for this stern comment. But how the OP intends to support his fiancee' is non of our business. He asked questions on the process ie. filing, income requirements for filing, and any expectations from those things. If the OP has been on disability since birth I am sure he is not living in the streets. I am sure he is eating, paying bills, and meeting his needs. How much more will his wife add? I am quite sure he can provide for her enough until she arrives and is able to adjust then as she gets her papers straight for the next step to be a blessing to him as well. I think this is getting to much into his personal business. I want to recommend sticking to the questions that were asked not wondering about all the other side issues that is clearly things that I know he has considered. And yes she is coming from a poor country and her being here with her loved one...living and assisting each other will give her that opportunity to better herself and her family. Sorry but I just had to say something because I just think it happens to often here where OP's ask questions and those answering get side tracked and start responding to think that are outside the the real issue. If you want to just be nosy or concerned send them a private message.

You are suggesting much more than I am. I simply asked the poster to think about what he might be doing. I also have to question you about 700 dollars a month to feed, clothe and shelter 2 people in America? You are "sure" about so many things. You ask how much more his wife could add? Are you serious or joking? I would guess about 100% for food, clothing and most other expenses. How can you be so sure of so many things? I am pretty sure his income alone does not meet the income requirements to bring in a fiance. I was merely trying to help. I was not getting into his personal business.

There are 2 issues with this consulate.

1. They do not usually accept co sponsors in these circumstances

2. Needs to demonstrate it is a not a care giver being brought in.

And here Boiler makes two excellent points: These are issues the poster will have to overcome. So in the end I was not judging the poster. I was not faulting him. I wish him the very best. I wish no one harm. God Bless
