Hi Sweet Cakes,

I was looking at the site you posted above

http://philippinefia...com/review.html

and I read under the tab "Interview" and then USEM Blog... that I guess me as the Petitioner will not be allowed inside with my fiancé for his interview

"""""If you are not a visa applicant or if you are a U.S. citizen, you will not be allowed within the visa interview area""""""

How can I make sure what their policy? can I come or not????

It's a typo. There's a missing "NOT". The petitioner of an applicant IS ALLOWED inside the USEM with the beneficiary during the interview. Hank's and Greenbaum's experiences are proof that this is very feasible.

Since you're a naturalized citizen, you will most likely be asked for a US passport, so do bring it with you. :)

Edit: For the medical, I don't think you can go inside SLEC.

2nd Edit: Btw, this website, http://blogs.usembassy.gov/philippines/?p=2063, is talking mainly about NIV applicants. Although K-1 is an NIV, it is being handled by the IV (Immigrant visa) section of USEM.

You are not only allowed inside USEM, you can participate in the interview.

St. Luke's is another matter, but if you are there you can at least function as her security detail while she is waiting outside for the doors to open.

Yes you can be at the interview, I was... :)

That must be a typo or whatever, anyway, you are allowed in the embassy for the interview with your fiance.

Yup. Stood there proud to see my fiancé and kids passing their interview. BTW, I was able to witness the Filipino interview but when it came time for the US CO's interview, I was greeted warmly. Asked if I was the petitioner (yes in response), he said that "it is always nice to have the petitioner here, but for now would you take a seat and if needed I will call you back up. I replied yes, and less than 5 min later they were walking toward me with a grin on their face.

Go, and be there, you will enjoy the experience.

Thank you Greenbaum...... I am crossing my fingers first and see what happens to the medical. If all good, then I will have to rush and book a flight home to be there for his June 2 interview.

I will have to book a one way ticket though as I am not sure when we will get his visa after the interview.

Don't want to have to book a RT flight and pay penalties for rebooking

... whereas I was allowed to stay at the window and the CO asked me almost as many questions as he asked my wife. ;)

anyway you slice it, it was a great experience

Just curious, do you have a Philippines passport as well as a U.S. passport? Only ask as the airlines won't allow a one way ticket without another ticket for travel from there.

Don't worry. I was a basket case too but Candy did just fine. And even if he has problems remember there is nothing either of you can do to alter the course of events. There will be no decision making for him at the medical, just shut up and do what he is told.
