Say no-one here's still waiting for a visa, are they? Maybe more prudent to just fly to Mexico and swim the Rio Grande . . .

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement released nearly 40,000 convicted criminal aliens who were awaiting the outcome of deportation proceedings while in detention, according to a recent report by the Center for Immigration Studies.

The criminals’ infractions include convictions for drunk or drugged driving, aggravated assault, flight escape, dangerous drugs, vehicle theft, kidnapping, sexual assault, and homicide. Overall, the 36,007 criminals released in 2013 had about 88,000 total convictions.

CIS found that a “vast majority” of these releases were done on a discretionary basis, or in violation of some provisions of immigration law.

An interesting fact.. According to deportation statistics and estimates gathered on people sneaking over the border (as there are no official numbers) - The second term of Obama might be the first time that more people are deported that sneak into the country..

Your confusion over the Economist's piece is understandable. The current administration spins and tortures the concept of "deportation" beyond all proportion. Here is a good discussion of why the preznit's deportation numbers are whack.

Anyone who has access to the means to enter the US and progress through legal channels to citizenship is a billion times better off than anyone who has entered the country and now lives here without the proper documents no matter what the current wait time to go through the process is. Anyone that advocates using an illegal route because it's quicker is just being facetious and small minded.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I didn't post the Boy Scout one, and the Singing Nun link has yet to be disputed. If you're disinterested, by all means: go do something else.

suppose that's cause i already knew about the boyscouts, and i agree with the slpc. i was confusing you with danno. i've discussed the boyscouts with him at length.

That's only interesting if you're not waiting in line.

My goal today has been to post yet not contribute anything of direct substance... Not as easy as it sounds! I'm not sure how these guys do it day after day..
