New Green Card Process

Hi,

I am trying to do some research for a friend of mine. My friend entered the US on a IR-1/CR-1 visa, he entered on 1/16/2014. However, his wife did not pay the new green card processing fee until after entry. She says that she has paid the fee on Feb 25, however he is still waiting to receive the Green Card. It seems too long and I feel that he should have already received this. Anyone have any idea how long it should take for him to receive the actual green card in the mail? Also, shouldn't there be a tracking number for the green card?

01/06/2012- Married My best friend

05/09/2012- Mailed I-130 via Fed Ex

5/10/2012- I-130 has been received & Signed for at the Chicago lockbox at 10:23 am

05/14/2012- Received NOA1 via Text Message

05/17/2012- Received NOA1 via Snail Mail(Postmarked 5/15/2012)

07/27/2012- 9:36 am Received NOA2 via text message (thought it was a dream)

07/30/2012- Started calling the NVC to see if case has been received

08/02/2012 -Called NVC- Rep told me that NVC Received Package 07/30/2012 (Still no case# assigned)

08/16/2012 -Called NVC- Information has been entered and received my case number (Yahooo)

08/24/2012- AOS Bill invoiced and paid

08/30/2012- Emailed the DS-3023

09/05/2012- Sent AOS (Affidavit of support) packet via Fed Ex (overnight)

09/06/2012- AOS Packet received

09/11/2012- Received email notification that the DS-3023 (Choice of Agent) has been accepted

09/13/2012- Received IV Bill

09/13/2012- Paid IV Bill

09/17/2012- IV marked as paid

09/17/2012- Sent IV Package (DS-230) via Fed Ex

09/18/2012- IV Package Received

09/18/2012- AOS Packet Accepted

09/25/2012- Called NVC and found out I have an RFE

09/26/2012- Received RFE via EMAIL

10/01/2012- Sent original divorce documentation (RFE) via Fed Ex overnight

10/15/2012- CASE COMPLETE (Yahoooooooooooo)

10/23/2012- Case complete email received..

11/02/2012- Called DOS and received interview date

11/05/2012- Received email with check list and appointment date

11/20/2012- Medical Completed

12/03/2012- Interview Scheduled

12/24/2012- Entered the USA and got to MN at 12:08 am on 12/25/2012 Merry X-Mas to us

Hi,

What does the status say on the website? That's how you track. They need o go to website than they also can call but the website should tell them what they need to know.

And it should only take 4 to 6 weeks but things get lost and returned is his name on mailbox also. Have they asked postal worker if they received anything from Immigration and they returned.

Hi dwheels76,

Long time no talk :)!! I hope you find yourself doing well these days. Unfortunately, my friend's wife is not cooperating and provide him with any details tracking number, phone numbers, etc.

I just called him and told him to STOP being LAZY and DUMB call the DOS yourself and look into this TODAY!! That he has been waiting too long already and only he can look into where it is.

Yikes I pray this isn't a situation where she has the green card but won't give it over. Do they not live in same place. But he has to call USCIS I believe they will talk to him about his green card.

Give him the information to call USCIS. He can try and get on the ELIS system and retrive the information himself he has his A number and all that.

He needs to be proactive.

Yes, it is one of those unfortunate situation. What makes it worse is she was one of my closet friends and he is my husbands best friend for over 30 years. We all thought it was a match made in heaven and it was, until he got here and she changed and drastically!!! I feel very bad for him, he has never left his country, thank god he has us and thank god we only live about 3 miles apart and we have managed to keep him sane. We have him over as much as we can or go visit him. We also make sure and share any food and products we buy or bring home from Jamaica.

My adjustment has gone very well, a few bumps, but we have overcome them and it was pretty minor issues! My husbands daughter will be coming soon, at least we hope, we are currently waiting for our case to be complete at the NVC :).
