I was interviewed for K1 visa at US embassy in New Delhi on 11 April 2014. I was not issued a visa after interview but was given a 221 g white paper that listed some additional documents required ( mainly related to my prior immigration and work history in USA). I promptly responded and provided the requested documents on 13 April 2014. Since then my case is in administrative processing.

However, while checking for the case status on ceac.state.gov, I noticed that status updated date was changed twice once on 23 April and most recently on 12 May 2014 but the case still remained in administrative processing. Does this change of date signifies anything? If any one on this forum has gone through the same experience, please share

Just sit back and enjoy the ride. AP can take days to months, some cases even a year or more. The good news is you know why you are in AP so it should not be long to get your visa. Hang tight!

I have been on AP for 55 days now with 3 date changes last on May 2 and still no answer. The AP is a horrible situation to be in cause you are clueless on what to expect of your future. We want an answer already so we can decide on what to do next?

They didnt give you a 221g stating that you were being put in AP? They gave me the 221g with AP checked off. I wasnt missing any documents at all. We had more than enough evidence of a year and 8 months. Did they tell you that you were approved at the interview? We have been in AP for the same amoutn of days my interview was on March 19 :ranting:

My visa was not approved immediately after the interview due to the missing documents but consulate officer did ask me to submit the passport along with the other requested documents on 221g. I lived and worked in US for 7 years on student and work visas but didn't submit any paperwork related to the prior immigration and employment history. I thought it was not relevant as I am now in India and they must be having my previous record in their database.

I wish everyone here good luck for their visa journey!

My fiancé had his interview on April 1st. The CO took out a white sheet of paper and circled the location where he should pick up his visa in 7 days. Well, April 8 rolled around and he went to pick up his visa only to be told that there is nothing there for him. They had him going back and forth for 2 weeks. I started emailing the embassy to find out what was going on. They said it is in AP! WTH!! He was never given a 221g form at all. Now we are in May and I decided to visit my Congresswoman's office to ask for assistance. I felt like I was getting the run around with this embassy because I kept getting the same email. Within a week her representative called me to tell me about their response:

Dear XXXXXXXX,

I would like to thank you for visiting my office and allowing my staff to assist you.

We have received a response from the Lagos, Nigeria regarding your pending matter. According to their files and records of your case, they issued the following response:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the K-1 immigrant visa application of Mr. XXXXXXXXX, as brought to Congressman Clarke’s attention by his constituent, Ms. XXXX XXXXX. Occasionally, additional information comes to light after the initial interview that can lead to administrative processing. In this case, the consular officer determined after additional review that further administrative processing is necessary before adjudication can be completed. This administrative processing is a legal requirement and must be completed before a visa can be issued. Once the unit that currently has custody of the file returns it to the Immigrant Visa Unit, we will contact Mr. XXXXX to schedule a new appointment date. Likewise, if we need further information from the beneficiary or the petitioner, we will contact them at the phone number or email address that was provided at the time of interview. We appreciate your patience in this process.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact XXXXXX, at (718) XXX-XXXX

Now they are telling her that "Occasionally, additional info comes to light". Then why couldn't they explain that to me? So now it has been 6 weeks and 2 days.
