I find this appauling. The animals are just getting off being endangered and he wants to start a killing spree. This bozo obviously knows nothing about wolves. Their whole pack dynamic is really complex. So much so that in captivity, it's difficult to keep a pack of larger than five members. Randomly kill off 85% of all the wolves, and more than likely a good number of the rest will die within a year because they won't have enough of their pack left to hunt effectively, and they don't easily co-mingle or join with other packs.

Merf...

What if they could kill entire packs at a time?

After all, there is the issue of peoples livelihoods being destroyed by too many of these predators.

I seriously suggest you get a copy of Farley Mowat's Never Cry Wolf--where the same excuse is used and exposed.

I'm in Idaho... and I don't have much good to say about Otter...I've have two issues with him.. but anyway.. The Ranchers have a problem with the Wolfs because they kill cattle, Sheep etc.,....

If I was going to thin the herd of Wolfs.. I would regulate it.. Special permits or Draws..and only so many sold each year..

This helps keep the packs down but doesn't endanger them...

Otter complained that wolves are rapidly killing elk and other animals essential to Idaho's multimillion-dollar hunting industry. The hunters, many wearing camouflage clothing and blaze-orange caps, applauded wildly during his comments.

complete and utter bs. wolves primarily eat rodents, not big game animals. this is just a way for them to rationalize killing off a wonderful creature.

Kiss me, Charles...we agree today.

The Ranchers have a problem with the Wolfs because they kill cattle, Sheep etc.,....

so they say. i'm betting they find a cow or sheep that either died from disease or was weakened by disease and the wolves ate it. either way, no loss from the rancher's wallet as he could not sell a diseased/dead animal anyways. but it's so much easier to portray several 150 pound wolves as the killers of a 1500 pound cow

is the l for love? :P

i just sent him an email from a made up name but this is the contents of it:

i completely and totally disagree with your decision to allow wolves to be hunted in idaho. wolves primarily eat rodents, not big game animals and livestock, unless said animals are dead/sickened by disease. i strongly urge you to consult with wolf experts before you continue on this uninformed path.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I used a fake name, address, phone, Email, etc because my message was none too kind. Even if it wasn't I wouldn't give the wacko my personal info.

And yeah, I know it's only going to be one of his staff (not him) that receives it but it should give them a good laugh. It should also give them a good idea of what people think of their boss.

According to the Pocatello and Blackfoot papers, this has nothing to do with ranchers and farmers but hunters. "Hunting is a multi-million dollar industry in Idaho" If wolves kill big game, there are less tags to sell.

Butch Otter makes me ashamed to live in "the great state" (Idaho). Personally, if we're giong to hunt anything, I'd like to uy the first tag to big-game hunt a big-game hunter.

anyone with me?
