Complex situation

Dear all
Please advice me if anyone have ever faced in such situation.
①My wife(USC) filed I-130 for me which is in NVC stage and currently we are living in japan.
②I have also filed for Naturalization in JAPAN (For changing the nationality from Bangladesh to Japanese), which may complete within couple of months.
These two processes are running smooth at this moment, I assume that NVC process will finish the earlier than Japanese naturalization process.
In this case, First I may get the the US immigrant visa in Bangladeshi passport, after getting Japanese nationality my
Bangladeshi passport is gonna be invalid.
In this critical situation, I have three questions
1. What would be the procedure if the immigrant visa in a passport which gonna be invalid soon?
2. Can immigrant visa be changed from one passport to another passport in case of naturalization?
3.Do I need to inform US embassy while my passport gonna be changed?
Please advise me.

i had a similar situation for my self.

I was Japanese and living in U.S. getting naturalization ( as U.S citizen ) while processing French visa. ( to get marry and live in france)

when i was getting french visa at french embassy, i was waiting for u.s passport ( nomore green card) and i had japanese passport with me.

Whole thing i processed as Japanese even I don't have green card, they told me to wait u.s passport for visa stamp. They said they can not issue visa on japanese passport. so u.s passport came one week later, I went to embassy again to get visa stamp.

so if you are going to be Japanese citizen, i think you ganna be told to wait till have japanese passport for your immigrant visa at interview.

but make sure, call NVC and explain your situation.

good luck!

1. Do not put yourself in that position. Delay one process or the other until your US visa will be in a valid passport.

2. No

3. Yes.

If you are going to delay the US visa (Easy to do at NVC, just wait to complete the DS260 and send in the last package.) until you have the Japanese passport. Then simply indicate your Japanese citizenship and passport information on the DS260, take the Japanese passport to the interview and you're all set.

If you decide to delay the conclusion of your Japanese Naturalization, you would have to delay until AFTER, you immigrate to the USA, in order to avoid having your visa in an invalid passport. Probably best to manage the NVC timing and get the visa in the Japanese passport.

It would be much better if you got the visa in your new passport. You're supposed to have a passport that will be valid for at least 6 months after you get the visa. This is an unusual situation, and I think you should speak to the NVC about it before you go for your interview (so before you get case complete).

I know that if a visa is in a passport that expires and is replaced with a new passport from the same country, you can travel carrying both the new and the expired passport (to show the visa) but I have no idea if this still applies in your situation.
