Hi all,

Is it possible to add a spouse between the time I have been 'selected for further processing' and my initial interview?

We have been together for 14 years, have a house/ bank accounts/ everything together, but have never been married.

I'm due to complete my ds-260 application in a few days, and can't just marry in a few days as we have a registration period that needs to be served here (30 days).

And I'd like our marriage to be beautiful- not rushed.

Hope someone has info that may help, or advice on what the process would be, if I add her after the fact (when/if I receive my Immigrant visa).

Thanks for your help on this.

Shouldn't be a problem. Can you hold off on sending your DS-260 for those 30 days until you get married? When is your interview?

Look, if you don't act now and go by yourself to interview - only you will get the visa. As an LPR, filing for spouse in F2A visa category is at least 2 yrs wait.

I was under the impression that you were to lodge the ds-260 asap (mine is due from the 19th May).

I don't have an appointment time allocated to me yet. I was under the assumption this was given after the DS-260 was electronically submitted.

It is still very early days... and I have registered to get married, so technically I'd be 20 days late with the application (ds-260).

Thank you Hugely for your advice with this. I am extremely grateful for your help.

They say you should return the form ASAP, but, your interview date depends on your case number, not when you return the form (unless you do so exceptionally late). What is your case number (regions/blank out last three numbers to xxx)? 20 days will make absolutely no difference, in fact even if you are a very low case number with an October interview date, if you submit by end of June it shouldn't even affect your interview date. Schedules are normally drawn up two months in advance; they will need a month or maybe slightly longer to process your form first.

Agree it will definitely be in your favour to add your intended spouse before rather than after the interview. She will get a visa along with you at the interview if you do that, otherwise as said above it can take a long time to petition for her. Your other option is to return the DS260 now, and then submit updated ones after the marriage.

They open the DV--260 om May 19th for DV applicants but it is not mendatory to send it this day. Knowing that the USCIS IT guys are complete tossers I would assume massive problem at this day and send it a couple of days later.

However, it is no problem to add your spouse at a later point but I would not wait to long wioth the marriage because you probably need to get some documents or a new passport with your wifes name etc

If you marry after you get your visa you will have to get to the US get your green card then file an I130 petition for her. The petition can take years before a visa is issued. I would recommend a small marriage to get the spouse added before the interview then a real big wedding later

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hi, Couldn't find actual topic but... I got divorced, and I need to remove my ex from ds-260. Could any body give me any advise how to do it?

Thank you!

Interesting change. You probably need to ask KCC to unlock the DS so you can do it. Don't forget you will need your divorce certificate for the interview.

Hi, thank you for response. I have mailed to KCC, but they replayed, that I have to contact to my local embassy. Unfortunately can't find any direct numbers. Always goes to answer machine and options for the appointment. But I live to far from capital.

I'll keep trying then.

Ok, well, if you can't get through to anyone just make sure you take your divorce certificate along to the interview. It shouldn't be a problem at all so don't stress about it.

For a quickie marriage you can get married in 3 days in New Zealand.

Hey all,

Just wanted to say 'thanks' for all suggestions and information.

You've calmed my mind... somewhat.

I have decided to get married on October 25th this year (2014.

This will give us time to plan and have a beautiful wedding, as opposed to a rushing it.

My case number is OC00001xxx and from what I can tell my earliest possible interview date is March 2015'.

I intend on filling in my ds-260 together after our marriage (Late Oct 2014).

I know this has been covered by many threads, I am just being 100% sure that my calculus is correct.

If not, would it be best for me to complete my ds-260 then amend the document with my partners form when we tie the know. I suspect that doing it this way around, may complicate the issue.

Again, many thanks for all your help.

Keep in mind you can't use the marriage certificate from your wedding at the interview. It is ceremonial only. You'll need to apply for the official one.
