For those in Egypt who have reported birth abroad of an american citizen:

3. Original, Photocopy, and Certified English Translation of Hospital, Doctor, or Midwife Certificate for the Child

This is on the embassy's website as a requirement in order to get a CRBA (consular report of birth abroad) for my daughter. She is 17 months old now and we never got her CRBA and will be getting it next month. When she was born, this #3 was not on their website info about reporting births abroad and now it is. When I went to register her birth certificate after she was born, the ministry of health office took the original doctor certificate from me and kept it (and my wife's doctor told me thats what they do for everyone). Is this a joke? Is the embassy trying to trick us, because how am I supposed to get this paper if the ministry of health kept it? Thanks!

If she born in a hospital, can you ask for a certified copy of their records??? If its just at home or clinic... can the doctor give you a certified document of the birth???

Her government issued birth certificate is also a requirement. Here they dont keep records of birth in the doctors office or hospital. They give us a little piece of paper that says a baby was born, their gender, and names of both parents. We have to take this paper to the government ministry of health and they make us fill out forms and stuff then we get a computerized birth certificate a few months later.

Can you call the Embassy and tell them the issue??? Maybe they could accept the goverment document and translation only???? Or even ask the office where you registered the birth to check if they can give you a copy of the paper??? certified that is a legit copy???? Hope someone experienced can help you

I love you Charles forever!!

Wanted to provide an update in case someone was in my spot :)

The hospital issues the birth report, which its original version is required by BOTH the US Embassy and the Egyptian Health office. So i simply asked the hospital to produce 2 copies, and problem was solved.
