As far as I know they won't do an inquiry without you signing an authorization form. That's what it was back when I did it. And here in MA, the Congressman said to contact Kennedy's office. The said if I gave it to them that is what they would do, forward it to his office. Perhaps things are different now or differ from state to state. But a phone call to your senior US Senator can answer some questions. They may have staff that just handles immigration issues. Speculation is just that, speculation. Call. I went through bs with the Consulate in Rio and DHS in Lima Peru. Emails were a waste of time. Global Express mail and type written letters were the way to go.

Okay, any links to Jaffna?

I ask because there's that UN war crimes thing going on right now and I have heard through people that applications are being held up in Colombo as a result. Ex-mil, mostly. Also suspected Sinhalese militia members and fundraisers, especially if they have ties to the jaffna peninsula.

No links to Jaffna. He was in Japan during most of the war. He has spent almost 20 years there, 15 years consecutively.

Gotcha. I just need to fix my letter and then I am going to let it rip. I think I should mail them all of the evidence I submitted with my case as well, yes?

Good, good. Hopefully the documentation around that is airtight. And no Sinhala militia fundraisers have claimed they know him.

Not that we know of. His passports and his police certs from Japan can certify this.

And we submitted all old passports.

Don't submit evidence.

A congressperson cannot speed up AP or make a decision on your case. They can make inquiries for you, which might push things through.

Don't use facebook. Go to the person's webpage and find one that has immigration as a topic on their page, and submit the permission to make inquiries on your behalf.

Use the person you voted for, if you can. If you moved to TX recently, you might want to try the person from your old state.

But this has to be organized and purposeful. It seems random at the moment.

How is the state of official documents/record-keeping in Sri Lanka?

Best of luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

trashy. they are not very good at it.

Which is likely the reason for long AP.

Na, that isn't why. The entire subcontinent has that problem. The consulates know how to deal with it. Plenty of cases fly through despite crappy documents.

Uh, I disagree.

Pak v India, for example. Pak has worse documents, no?

We probably won't agree on this, though, so...

Pak has worse documents? Not necessarily true. The divide in the subcontinent is an urban-rural one. Rural documents are crappier. That's true for both Ind and Pak.
