Everyone does this really, except some people's motive is social elitism, moral superiority complex, laziness, or self justification. Well, from what I understand, Islam teaches that all people are Muslim, and that the people who say they are not or don't follow it are sinners and bad. People don't convert to Islam, they "revert," because it teaches that Islam is the correct and fundamental religion of all people.

I have a problem with that, personally.

On the other hand, Christianity teaches that anyone can choose to be a Christian, and Judasim is tribal, teaching that Jews are special people with special rules just for them that others don't need to follow.

Does Boko Haram think that they are helping these girls, as they allege? Or is it just to stir the pot and a display of power?

I believe Islam just provides the cover they need to subjugate these women. They could just as well have used the cover of christianity to do so, as is the case of many women who are live in christian fundamentalist communities.

In the end, the main issue is not religion so much as a profound disregard for woman as human beings.

(from various resources I have learned and believe) Christianity = To support / promote monotheism....The powers that be - eliminated & reworked scripture to reduce women to 2nd class. There is scripture which promotes benevolence to women but nothing which states they are equal to man. The main issue is religion....Islamic slavery. They enslaved over a million to a million and a half black folks. over the last 1400 years or so. There are still slave markets. Some of these girls are as young as 9 to be married off or if she does not convert be a slave.... What is that name for people who breed 9 and 10 year old children. .. In this case just call her a slave everything is fine. ... This just brings to light . You did notice just christian girls were kidnapped. Just return to that story about that basket ball player... That for certain is more important than the slave trade.
