How open can the discussion be, if there can't be any movement on either side? You think Obama is the worst president ever, that's your opinion, not fact. Any facts that oppose this, you say you're being demonized and post a emotion con. There can't be a debate if you're closed minded enough not to listen to anything that doesn't paint him as some complete moron.

As for your second point, if you're going to call out racism, do it from both sides of the aisle. If you only do it from one side, you're doing it wrong.

My thing is, there are folks who don't like Obama. And that's okay. But when every single thread has to be about him, or even something that doesn't even tie into him and you make it such, you have to ask yourself what's really the problem.

What's even more funny is he really thinks it's clever. Everyone knows...

Well I've said this before but the US media is pretty bad at covering politics. Almost as if so much of what happens is so mind crushingly dull that they feel they need to sensationalise everything to make it interesting.

Then you have campaign advertising that says little more than 'X did this, now he wants to do Y, vote Z'.

It's all garbage. As far as VJ is a reflection on political discussion in the US (I don't believe it is), it follows much the same pattern as the media reporting.

There are things worth talking about, but some people seem to prefer vapid nonsense. Says to me that a lot of USCs on VJ aren't very educated about political discourse.

The same reason the missionaries come to my door several times during the month.. They serve as a one way flow of information to bring me into the fold.

But you don't invite the missionaries to your home, they just show up. We all come here to to this forum voluntarily, one would think to hear and debate opposing views. The missionary types that we do have here are well known, and for the most part their one way views are discarded.

If you remove guns from the equation, we are pretty darn close on a lot of other things. If you could get past labeling everyone as either a lib or conservative, you might actually see how close on most issues we really are.
