Oy. Another who's apparently irony-proof.

So, all this talk is about GWB? I thought we can't talk about the past administration.

Evidently its a throwback for what the bush haters said to remove any argument they have for calling it disrespectful... I found it repugnant when people did it to Bush so I guess I'll be consistent. When an R wins again (though with these type of "supporters" it is safer to say "if") we can be on the same side again when he is put out that people are giving the new president stupid sound-byte names.

I guess I'm different. Do you know what I used to call Bush when no one watching? President. That's what he was.

In that you couldn't figure it out?

Guess I try to bring something to the table besides emotion cons and insults.

Funny how active this thread is.

I don't think the forum is dead, we're all maybe just a little bored of the current issues. I have no doubt this place will spring back to life when the news gets interesting again.

Maybe GZ will get in some more trouble. That was good for pages and pages of internet fun.

Here is a response to my petition from Congressman Beto O'Rourke

Of course there was nothing about supporting my petition.

I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

The immigration system in this country is broken. Legal pathways into the United States are taking decades as difficult and confusing requirements are delaying the process for many immigrants. The population of undocumented persons grew to over 11.5 million in 2011.

Our current immigration laws do not reflect reality. Our country’s economic vitality relies on immigration and immigrants from around the world still view the U.S. as a land of opportunity. The focus on border security has led to unacceptable wait times at our international bridges and ports of entry. When it can take up to four hours for someone in Juarez to come to El Paso to shop, our local economy suffers.

We need to fix this problem. That is why I cosponsored the House version of comprehensive immigration reform, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (H.R. 15), which has more than 190 bipartisan cosponsors. On March 26, 2014, I signed a discharge petition asking Speaker Boehner to allow us to vote on this important legislation. I also introduced the bipartisan American Families United Act (H.R. 3431). This bill would give authority to immigration judges to review specific cases for Americans who are separated from their families due to minor earlier immigration violations, or due to an incident when the family member was a minor.

As El Pasoans living in a bi-national city built on immigration and cross border trade, we have a unique perspective to bring to the immigration debate. I will bring that perspective to Congress and work on a solution that not only treats immigrants in search of the American dream fairly, but will economically and socially benefit El Paso and the rest of the nation.
