I'm the F2A beneficiary from India and my i130 with a PD of 02nd Dec 2013 has been approved. It Is currently at the NVC with a case number and IIN assigned. Since the cutoff date has retrogressed back to May 1st 2012 I feel it might take at least 1.5 to 2 years more for my PD to become current. In the meantime, I am now thinking of pursuing my Masters in Canada which would also allow me to be closer to my spouse who lives in the US. My question here is --Do I need to be in India during the entire period of my consular processing or is it alright as long as I fly down just to attend the interview in India? And , is there a possibility that my PD will be current by Jan 2016?
