I sent in the application for an I-130 on April 15, 2014. Payment gets taken out a few days later. Recieved NOA1 a week later. Hmmm everything is fine and good.

AND now i just got my NOA2. Yes my approval notice. Application is forwarded to NVC. The less then a month for receiving both NOA 1 and 2. Damn that was fast. Don't get me wrong it is good and exciting but was not expecting NOA 2 till the end of summer. Now i have to get other documents ready faster. lol.

Okay here lies my question though, my case is F2A my priority date is April 21, 2014. will that effect the speed of NVC steps or no? And sorry to ask this like a noob but what exactly is a priority date for case like mine. Not asking the current date as i can see that in the bulletin but i just want to understand the meaning or purpose of the word "Priority Date"

Basically they now sit on it until your visa number becomes current.

Unfortunately this is a situation where your fast approval won't do anything for you since F2A has regressed significantly. You are probably around two years or so from your priority date becoming current.

First you should confirm about your NOA2 by calling NVC .....

You are lucky that your I-130 was approved less than month...For me we have been waiting almost 6 months!!

Your priority date is the date on your I797C (or I797- the approval notice) - it's probably on the left, near the top, and it'll be pretty close to the date you got the NOA1.

Unfortunately, you likely won't even be issued a case number before the June retrogression (it takes a couple of weeks just to get from the service center to NVC), so you'll have to wait until your priority date becomes current again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

I remember last year when we were waiting for USCIS to approve we were shocked that spouses of LPRs were getting approved so much faster than us spouses of USCs. But this is why, I guess.

Can your husband apply for citizenship soon? If he becomes a citizen, your priority date ceases to be an issue, since USC spousal visas are not numerically limited.

Is your timeline updated?

Oath Ceremony Dec 14th, 2018 I am finally a citizen and done with USCIS for good!

Thanks for all the replies. Yes that is what i was assuming as well about my priority date not being current. Unfortunately a fast approval does me no good here and path to citizenship is at least a year away from my spouse. :(

Last year the F2As cutoff date was OCT 2013. How can that date actually go back to May 2012. And jules you are right last year LPRs were actually faster in receiving approvals and then NVC process is the same for citizens and lpr i believe.
