Hi everyone,

I red that for a procedure to ask for a green card (form I-130 from France) for my soon to be French husband (with whom I have been living with for the past 7 years), he could get a 2 year validity green card, and my question being, after those 2 years can it be a permanent green card?

I also red somewhere that after being married for two years, he could automatically ask for a permanent green card from the beginning?

and what is the difference between a permanent green card and a US citizenship and how to ask for the US citizenship?

I wasn't able to find any information on that topic so if anyone knows, please let me know. (I'm asking many questions but honestly I am lost)

Thanks a lot

Please read the guides that explain the process and procedure. If married more than 2 yrs at the time of entry into US (POE), spouse will get a 10 yr card. If less than 2 yrs, it will be the conditional 2 year card and 90 days prior to the 2nd anniversary of the green card (not marriage!) you will have to file I-751 to remove the conditions - once that is approved he will get 10-yr green card.

Citizenship comes after being permanent resident for 3 years, married to the same USC for 3+yrs and having residence in the USCIS district for at least 3 months and with no absences from the US for more than 6 months in any 1 yr period - otherwise it's 5 yrs to citizenship.
