So, I read that the petitioner also needs to submit civil documents if he/she is filling for a parent. What documents exactly does the petitioner send...I ll list out a few here and please advise me on any addtion or deletion.

For the petitioner:

1) Photocopy of the passport's biographic page

2) Birth certificate (original or certified)

3) Marriage certificate , current and previous if any (original or cetified)

What else?

Thanks a bunch :):goofy: Happy Mother's day (L)

  • Proof of U.S. citizen status of petitioner. Depending on how you became a citizen, you should make a copy of your birth certificate, passport, certificate of naturalization, or Form FS-20 (Report of Birth Abroad of a United States Citizen).

  • Proof that you are the child of your parent: This can most likely be covered by submitting a copy of your birth certificate listing your beneficiary parent as your mother or father.

Marriage Certificate. A photocopy of your marriage certificate.

Fees. The fee for an I-130 visa petition is, as of early 2014, $420. However, these fees go up fairly regularly, so double-check this on the USCIS website or by calling USCIS at 800-375-5283.

As stated above you do not have to send these documents in original copies unless they ask you to after they review your case. Visit http://www.uscis.gov/i-130 for more information. I hope this helps.

Best of luck!
