I had plans to be with my fiancee for her interview, but my official invitation from OVIR will not be ready in time (they changed the processing times)

and I will miss the interview.

I will fly to Moscow shortly after.

Regarding the interview, it is a problem that I have only been to see my fiancee in Russia once?

My fiancee and I met in the US while she was on a student visa. I visited her and her family a year later (last December) and have been working on the visa paperwork ever since.

We have great evidence (phone records, emails, text message records, photo's, postcards and letters, dhl receipts from gifts..etc). We are truly in love and I could not imagine spending my life without her.

I am just worried that the embassy is being really tough.

Do you have any helpful tips for the interview?

Thanks for your help!

You may want to do some searching, another recent (this week) Moscow interviewee was denied/delayed visa and one question asked by the CO to the beneficiary was why only one visit from her fiance.....

YMMV

Also make sure she has proof that she was legal in the States, apparently they are looking at that also. That proof can be a stamp in the passport with the date and documents of when she left on time and did not overstay.

Good luck,

Mike.

Please!!! Everyone knows that a US Fiance has No bearing on the Moscow Embassy as He/She can not access the embassy nor play a part in the interview. Real paper work and documentation of a relationship, airfare, apartments rented, Pictures with her and her family, etc... this is all that matters!!! Don't try to save her from the Embassy bad guys as you will only be dropped at the door.

Only partially true. Yes, you may not attend your fiancee's interview, but you do have access to the embassy. I was very glad that I was there as I was able to immediately correct a problem when my fiancee's daughter was told she would not get the visa without another interview. Also my fiancee told the consular that I was waiting outside and the consular was very interested in this. Especially good for you guys who have only visited one other time. I believe this shows more about the relationship than a stack of e-mails.

Obviously it has a lot to do with it..... While they have basic set of criteria it is all in the hands of the interviewer

YMMV

The CO she gets for the interview makes a world of difference. There are some who are friendly and nice and some that are totally nasty. I have heard of situations where the only question asked was "how are you today" and ones who got the third degee about everything under the sun with bad results if anything looks bad. Most of the time is is fairly routine with 3-4 questions but you never know so it pays to be prepared.

This seems to be the most important thing in a case where there's not a lot of "evidence."

If you met on-line, two months later flew over to see her, spent a week together, then did the K-1 visa app., that doesn't really paint a "true love" scenario in the eyes of most COs. However, sometimes you get that CO that says "wow, that's awesome that you guys knew in only two months of e-mails that you loved each other. Good for you!"

The main thing to remember is that even if you have the "horrible" CO, and when I first started here on VJ there were tales of a Latino or Hispanic-looking CO with a big mustache that made more than one girl cry, even if you get him... if all of your paperwork is correctly done and the interviewee goes in there with a good story about how much in love you are, they have to find a reason to deny you. Otherwise, they have to issue the visa. Ensure you have a good set of papers, and good "evidence" (which now seems to be more than just a print-out of e-mails and phone records, 10 pictures from your visit to Moscow... you need some mushy stuff too!) and your fiancee goes in there with the attitude "I love my fiance, you're going to give me the visa."

I think it depends a lot on timing too. They switch COs every so often, and when they do, the new ones have their own style that influences the interviews.

Yes, with proper evidence any one should not have a problem getting a visa. Still, you take any Russian women who may or may not be scared out of her wits or at the very least incredibly nervous being inside the US embassy and put her up against some savvy CO, she could be reduced to mush in no time if the CO so desired. This is why I am trying now to boast the confidence of my fiance. She is already apprehensive about the interview and it is still months away..........

Yes, the hispanic guy was the one my former fiancee got and it was my problems that started all that. There were so many guys on VJ contacting thier congressman about that guy that I am sure he had to have heard something of it.
