.....in this whole process it is NEVER possible to get any concrete info from any site. They all vary and all the advice you get varies. Once you get to all these places in the process its all up to who is handling your process at that time.....It gets completely overwhelming. If it was me the petitioner here in the USA having to do all this, it would be a breeze!!!!! but we are dealing with fiancée's and loved ones from sometimes third world countries. Its nearly impossible for them to get anything done. Things should be changed where we the petitioners with access to modern technology do 99% of the work, after all we are the ones ultimately responsible financially for that person once they immigrate here.

Just like children, or pets, do you think?

Somehow people got things done before modern technology. Wonder how... magic probably.

I completely agree with you. The guidelines on here tell you one thing, the people on here tell you another thing, the email from the Embassy tells you another things, the official websites tell you another thing. It gets stressful

Well informations here were very helpfull for me and my fiance.

And also you get good informations in the regional forums, with people from especify country.

You can get information from people who are applying in the same country.

The guides on here are made by people who have gone through the process and have carefully read, reread, and reread the instructions for the forms required. We learn from each other's mistakes and provide that info to the community as a whole.

If all you did was read the instructions for the forms, you'd be okay, but the guides and wikis here provide more depth.

I agree that sometimes the info needed for the beneficiary seems hidden but don't be afraid to ask a question so we can direct you to the answer. This way you can learn it and communicate it to them in a way they will understand.

I do not feel it is ever in the beneficiary's best interests for the petitioner to do all the work (and vice versa.) Both need to know the struggles and contribute, so they both learn to appreciate the effort and result.

There are a couple of things out of date in the guides, but for the most part they are very helpful. I've personally yet to be tripped up by anything on this site.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Moment of clarification: You, the PETITIONER petitioned USCIS to allow your fiancee, the beneficiary, to apply for a visa - the approved petition gives the BENEFICIARY the authorization to complete an application. The petitioner is not applying for a visa... ;)

Ya I know you want to make it easy and "handle it all", and surprisingly there is a lot that you can do right from your computer, but then there are some things the actual applicant must complete.

The guide I made (below in my signature is the link) is fairly complete and accurate for the process in Manila, it provides links to USEM, SLEC and CFO... (for the process in Manila I would NOT recommend the guide on VJ... it is very lacking to be embassy specific)

And of course the Philippines forum is a good place for assistance as well.

Hmm, my wife had no problem whatsoever getting any of these things completed, and it isn't as if she's from Manila or Cebu, rather, a quite remote place where, incidentally, for those who don't have their own computers, there are numerous cafes where you can hire one for about 50 cents/hour.

'Its [sic] nearly impossible for them to get anything done.' Really? Most of our friends and relatives in the Philippines have college degrees, work as engineers, programmers, teachers, civil servants, merchants, etc. I see them getting a great deal done on a regular basis. Perhaps you're selling your girlfriend short, or perhaps she's not that interested in getting these things done....

I'm sorry OP but I find your post counter-productive and kind of backward. I was the USC petitioning my husband from Bangladesh. As many people know, my husband's country is a third world country with not much technology available, heck, even to get just a police clearance certificate, you have to bribe officers (which my husband did too!). It's hard to step out of the house in his country because there are riots and protesters out for blood every day on the streets, yet my husband seemed to get all the documents I needed from his side in order. Just because it's a "third world country" doesn't mean things can't get done, they've been doing them even before technology existed.

When I began this process, I didn't know where to start and then I found this site. It is really just basic reading and understanding. If there is something confusing to you on the forums, just go directly to the USCIS/NVC/Embassy websites and read every detailed requirement there (that's what I did when I needed to confirm on up-to-date things). If you really love the person you are bringing to the US, I don't think putting in some effort into reading, doing some running around for documentation and having some patience is a big deal in the long run. And frankly, this process is a breeze- but it depends on how you manage it. The key is to read a little, understand a little, complete one task at time, keep patience and repeat.

P.S. Take a look at my timeline in my signature when you get the chance. Although you are doing a K1 visa, you will see all the things we did and get an idea on how to go about things little by little.
