Depends on the community. Cousins marrying is a big no-no in my community. Most of the first cousins I know who went on to marry, eloped and fled from their village.

Here in Ga Wedding family reunion same thing

Marrying if you are related even by marriage(however distant) is seen as a no-no as well. So when my father's first cousin married my mother's brother, half the family boycotted the marriage, even though they weren't related by blood.

I believe North Indians are really strict about cousins marrying.

We're not allowed to marry within the same gotra, which is severely limiting. Do you have any idea how many people are descended from some guy who existed a thousand years ago? A lot. And all of them are off limits, even though some of the women are insanely hot.

I remember reading online how common "cousin marrying" was in the world, both now and throughout history. I was very surprised by how common it is even now. F the first person that makes a KY joke.

Well, I won't make a joke, but note the prevalence of cousins-marriage in my father's side. Family get-togethers were always fun.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I hear that. My Uncle divorcing his wife (cousin) to remarry (cousin) was interesting. Guess sometimes you can't take the Hillbilly out.

I'd bang it.
