Hello everyone,

I was referred to your website by a friend and I see how much help and guidance available here, so I hope I you guys can help advising me on my special situation.

I came to the US on J1 visa, couple of years ago, applied for asylum and got it (based on the situation in my country), then got married to a US citizen. I am not sure how to start applying for an AOS here. The asylum should have taken care of my J1 waiver, but I was advised to apply on the basis of my marriage as the AOS process seems to take less time this way compared to applying on the basis of the asylum. I obviously need to include the asylum in my AOS application since I am originally a J1 holder.

Is Form I-485 still the right form for me to submit? Not sure exactly which box to check on part 2 (application type) of the form. Any other forms I need to submit?

Really appreciate your input and advice,

Thanks in advance,

D
