The instructions have become quite lengthy lately. Ive heard talk about taking your visa there, but isnt that all sealed up in the envelope you are not supposed to open? I guess my question is...do you do the CFO before or after receiving your visa from the embassy?

The passport is not sealed inside of the brown envelope you hand over at POE.

You can be the CFO before or after you get the visa. If you do it before -- you get a certificate and you must return to to get the actual stamp in the passport.

If you go to the K-1 Visa Processing page it says many different requirements vs the actual CFO website.....in this whole process it is NEVER possible to get any concrete info from any site. They all vary and all the advice you get varies. Once you get to all these places in the process its all up to who is handling your process at that time.....It gets completely overwhelming. If it was me the petitioner here in the USA having to do all this, it would be a breeze!!!!! but we are dealing with fiancée's and loved ones from sometimes third world countries. Its nearly impossible for them to get anything done. Things should be changed where we the petitioners with access to modern technology do 99% of the work, after all we are the ones ultimately responsible financially for that person once they immigrate here.

You can get your CFO before or after you get your visa. I got mine before I even get an interview and case complete. You can just get the stamp on the day of your flight so you don't have to comeback to the CFO office.

If you get in and complete your CFO session prior to May 15th you will not need your visa. After May 15th a new registration system is in placed and you are required to provide your passport and visa number in order to complete the registration process that is required online.

So it's up to you Before or After May 15th will effect your process.

Your passport is only inside a plastic bag with the DO NOT OPEN envelope, you need your passport to travel ;)

You can do CFO before or after receiving your visa, you choice. Doing it before you have to go back once you have the visa to get the CFO sticker affixed, doing it after it is all done in one day.

Ya the "list" for CFO is getting lengthy, mostly in the "other documents" category as "they" don't post that stuff on the CFO website so we collect the info as others attend and pass on what they were asked for - if different from what is listed already.

I have been told that when you register with CFO there are two choices 1) if you have the visa 2) if you don't have the visa ... so a person can still attend without needing the visa number.

As for passport, make copies of the BIO page

Actually I did. I gave her a list of documents she had that we only need copies of, asked her to email then to me, and then I printed them, added my docs (incouding my certified copy of birth certificate), put them in a folder and DHL them to her. DId the same for medical and interview. As for originals she has to get, I ran down the checklist with her and made suire she had them.

So as the USC you can do all this for your fiance. Just be ready to shell out $100 for the DHL.

Hi everyone, will just share what I did. I attended my CFO seminar on January to be able to renew my passport to my husband's last name. Then after I got my visa, I registered online on the CFO website, printed it out. Called CFO NAIA and told them about my flight and so I could just get my sticker on the day of my flight. So I didn't have to back to the CFO office and just got my CFO sticker at the airport on the day of my flight.

Can't tell if this is a question or a statement.

But the answer is YES you will need your visa and passport with your CFO certificate to get your CFO sticker applied. You can use any CFO location; Cebu, Manila or NIAI airport to have your CFO sticker applied to your passport.

Yup, as long as you call 2-3 days ahead of your flight date you can get your sticker at the NAIA.
