i got my interview date on 18th June-2014

i just want to book my air ticket in advance for 24th June .

can i book my ticket in advance ???

my consulate is MUMBAI consulate

can any one tell me how much time it will take to recv the passport ????

I would strongly recommend you do not do that:

1. it can easily take 2 weeks to get your passport and visa back

2. There may be other delays; AP (extra name and security checks after the interview); them requesting additional evidence; your interview getting delayed due to weather etc.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Please do not even think about it, yet. Not only you must wait for the actual interview, you should wait until you receive the passport with the visa in it back from the consulate (which could take at least 3 to 4 days) to buy the (non-refundable) ticket. Also, do not quit the job if you are working.

You can start shopping and packing though... :) :)

Avoid making any non-refundable/unchangeable reservations/appointments/commitments until your passport (containing your new visa) is in your hand. :idea:

I COMPLETELY agree with what everyone has suggested thus far. When you do book (visa in HAND), book through www.momondo.com

I found my friend's r/t airfare from SFO-MNL-SIN-MNL-SFO on that website today for $1,044 roundtrip! That site has ALWAYS been good to me :)
