In the British section of my wife's local grocery store they have Twix, Bounty, Kit Kat and Mars.

Like seriously, who told you they were the good British chocolate bars?! No Wispa Gold in sight :(

That's a shame... they sell Twix and kit Kats all over America anyhow. And they have that almond delight bar as a substitute for Bounty, and a chocolate bar ironically called milky way which is the substitute here for mars bars.

I miss double decker's and picnics lots. And curly wurlys and revels. I loved the orange flavored ones in the revels pack LOL.

Maybe its best for my waste line that im not a huge fan of American chocolate

Mmm Double Deckers. They are 4 for £1 at the moment. I may have bought 16 :innocent:

My new addiction I got on our last trip to England (2010)-- Crunchie Bars. They were 6/£ at Sainsbury's and we bought (and ate) lots. Have loved Galaxy since 2002 and sometimes get it in Kroger or World Market. Sometimes find Crunchie Bars at World Market or an upscale market/cafe we go to from time to time for lunch. But I'm pretty okay with anything chocolate, made by anybody.

Dove Chocolate is a reasonable replacement for galaxy, but not the same.

Agreed. Dove isn't bad at all.

Have any of you tried Hotel Chocolat? It's an upmarket British chocolate chain and they have a store in Boston (and presumably other big cities too?). Soooo good, I was really happy when I found it in the US lol.

This is probably a bit sad, but having lived in the US for just over a year, the only thing I really miss (apart from the obvious like friends and family) is Sky TV. It's not the same watching it online. Any other thing that I miss, I can pretty much pick up over here anyway.

Sky TV how do you watch it online without an active SKY TV account?

I miss things from t'other side of the Atlantic but I am not obsessed. I miss the familiarity of things and the comfort they bring.

BBC @ Christmas, the continuity announcers for some odd reason. The local radio stations. Footpaths.etc

These are the things of my childhood and growing up. So Yes I miss them. They say you can never go home, which means you can never revisit the past. I look forward now and enjoy the things that are here with me now.My only struggle is achieving a standard of living I had in the UK. I always seem to be only one pay check away from disaster. Such is life

Football days. Drinking all day because you have to numb the feeling of watching the dross on the pitch(Leeds). In all seriousness, probably miss my friends and there's not really much you can do to compensate that.

The National Trust volunteers are a treasure. I remember being at a NT property once with a friend and my friend asked a question about the archaeology and the old lady volunteer there said "I'll try to keep it simple as I know they don't teach much in schools these days". So I replied my friend here is a PhD candidate in history and I've just been awarded an MA in archaeology but don't worry we'll try to keep our questions simple
