Avery Cates your so funny LOL

Tesco was always my preferred supermarket, but for a special treat when I had the money to do it I would always love to treat myself to something nice to eat in M&S. Something about their food always seemed so luxurious. But you had to be a millionaire to do your grocery shop there!!!!!

Tesco was ok for cheap desserts at 10 PM because apparently everything else in the whole of England closes at 5 for some reason.

I primarily shopped at Mark & Spencers for meals for the two of us. They take themselves a little to seriously for a grocery section in a department store in this US Citizen's opinion, but I always got good stuff out of there.

Iceland I quite liked for things like bread for sandwiches, drinks, and for getting a cheap and easy lunch for myself for a pound when she was at work.

OK Dove chocolate is a passable replacement for Galaxy chocolate. Cadbury's can be bought here in the US but it is made under license by Hershey. They have changed the recipe to suit American tastes.

I used to really miss a lot of food and flavours (I refuse to drop the u) but not so much anymore.

I do not eat what passes for sausages here and I get a few bottles of HP sauce sent out every once in a while.

Plenty of imported beers in the Food Lion near where I live. Seeing Guinness as an import still makes me smile but I am more than happy with domestic beer. The various seasonal Samuel Adams beers are really good.

I watch less television here, which is not a bad thing and stopped missing the BBC and ITV except maybe around the winter holidays. I get Dr Who on BBC America or on BBC Iplayer.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Dave Allen.

Yes, Sammy Adams has some good stuff.

If anyone's a cider fan, Angry Orchard has a really nice one. Only tried the Cinful Apple one so far, but it was quite nice.

But they are all fizzy (Sam Adams) , a nice pint of Old Speckled Hen or London Pride is just the ticket but I have seen no real ales anywhere apart from bottles or cans.

Domestic beer is OK if you are a girly lager drinker (I imagine anyway).

I shall be partaking of several pints of the above mentioned real ales Tuesday and Weds prior to returning to the land of carbonated beer and bloody pizza.

Do a look online for places near you. We've got a few places near us that have lots on tap. Bellhaven, Boddingtons, Old Speckled Hen, Kilkenny, and of course Guiness. We are really lucky to have one right around the corner from us.

I'll be drinking lots of proper scrumpy in the next few weeks.

I've seen some good microbreweries in the US with decent ales but not ones that seem to make it into pubs.

I live in Mississippi, there is nowhere in this state that remotely sell sanything edible from the UK. I did however find " British Tetley teabags" in my local grocery store. But I had to sell my own plasma to pay the extortionate price they were asking for

They sell Tetley at Walmart, if you have one nearby. It is cheaper than Lipton. We used to have a British import store in town, but with the internet and such, they had to close. We have a lot of British people here, though, and a lot of restaurants that serve at least some of my favorites and stores that carry English products. I cried when one of the supermarkets stopped carrying Yorkshire Gold, until I realized the other one still had it.

They sell Tetley in Kroger but its $5.99 a box. Still, its a must LOL. I am going to Walmart later to pick up a phone card. I will definitely check to see if the prices are different to Kroger. Thanks for the tip.

I tell you something else I miss, and again it might be limited to my area, but I can not find any red wine here other than Californian or Australian wine!!! I have tried every liquor store in my county. I just want a lovely Italian or Sicilian red wine like I used to get from Marks and Spencer!!!!!

Even at the rinkydink Wal-Mart here I've found McVities Digestives on the shelf. A little steep, but I grab some every once in a while.

I also get Ribena on Amazon for when the kids are jonesing for some between my parents' visits, and some Jammie Dodgers too that worked out to be quite reasonable when you bought in bulk.

Around here one of the local places sells Typhoo (which as I understand it is "ok" tea) for like $3 for a box of 120 bags, and PG Tips can be found in pretty much any supermarket around.

My favorite tea in England was "Yorkshire Tea", not a chance of finding it in Mississippi!!!!!! Typhoo is also great tea. $3 for 120 bags is probably cheaper than what u would pay in the UK for it :)

Since you have Kroger, something ours started carrying-- a Kroger generic store brand British breakfast tea. Can't remember if it's labeled British Blend or British Breakfast. It was kinda hiding on the bottom shelf. He likes it. It's cheap too compared to the PG Tips on the British aisle.
