I miss Nandos!!

Cadbury, EastEnders, sir alan sugar, watching Britain's got talent, hovis bread, a tea trolley at work, saying the word trolley and knowing people know what it means, I miss RICH TEA and Choc digestive so so so much! Oh and Jacobs crackers.

The list is endless but NYC does have awesome stuff to make for lack of the above. One word - Pizza.

Word to the wise - they carry these in all the supermarkets near where I live in CT. They have a little British section in the supermarket.

You have to miss them a lot to pay the prices they want though. I shall be stocking up in Sainsburys on Weds prior to flying back Thursday.

I have to say, that hubby and I miss the pub...that's our biggest thing. Everything else we've managed to find locally or a damn good replacement. I'm sitting here in NH watching Corrie right now using Hola. Walkers crisps, are Lays...same company although the flavors are different. We've also noted that our Low Salt Lays are more like the ready salted. For some reason the regular Lays is a lot saltier here. We can find Ribena, our local store carries Nando's sauces, there is a local butcher that does proper English sausage, and we've even found bacon rashers. As for beer, there are SOOOO many places that serve British beer and most stores have lots of imports (although my favorite Doom Bar has yet to make it here) that we're spoiled for choice. Hubby gets ALL his football matches on the telly or on the computer thanks to NBC Sports channel on Comcast. We live close to several major cities (I'm not a city girl anyways) and a nice walking path that is several miles long. Chocolate is easy too....just have to look. I also cannot stand Hershey's and I grew up on the junk. Look around....you'll find lots of "home" here. Much more than used to be. Oh, except for mushy peas :( I miss mushy peas.

Sorry for those of you missing home, I completely understand because I miss it too. It's not where I was born, but it was my home for a bit....and I miss lots about it.

I'll miss clotted cream and cream teas, crumbly fudge, decent cider. Can you tell I'm from the westcountry

Also decent curries, the Indian takeaways I've had have not been up to the standard of the ones in the UK.

Chocolate is a huge one especially Boosts, Wispa Gold, Double Deckers etc.

We've only found one decent Indian place near us...and when I say near...its more than 2 hours away :( We make our own curries now (not the jarred stuff, but actual recipes) and we're getting pretty good at it.

Cider...that is hard. I've had some decent ones here, but none as good as what I had there. We can find Magners everywhere, and strong bow, but my fave wasn't even British, it was Koppaberg which I believe is Swedish. We're starting to do more cider here, and we have a couple of places that import many different ones. Nothing like a cold cider on a hot evening sitting outside with friends at the pub :(

Always make sure you count your change before leaving the register area.

They tried to short me out of 10 Pounds once.

Avery Cates your so funny LOL

Tesco was always my preferred supermarket, but for a special treat when I had the money to do it I would always love to treat myself to something nice to eat in M&S. Something about their food always seemed so luxurious. But you had to be a millionaire to do your grocery shop there!!!!!

Lol chavsda.

Love a bit of Iceland, always great bargains...two packs of rich tea for £1 a pop. Don't mind if I do!

I also really miss tfl, though I used to curse them when I lived in London... NYC subway is just no where near as good.

Do you know what? There was never a Waitrose in my town (Bicester, Oxfordshire), so I have never shopped at waitrose, But my town made national headlines on the ITN News for having the most Tesco stores for one town LOL!!!!
