Jaffa cakes are everyone's best friend Avery Cates. And now for the ugly confession... I can eat Jaffa cakes whole, and I can eat an entire packet in one sitting.

Don't judge me.....

Does anyone every remember a debate that raged in the UK about Jaffa Cakes.... Should they be deemed a cake or a biscuit???????

I often buy a packet of 12 jaffa cakes then eat them all in my lunch hour

I remember the cake vs biscuit debate, it was for tax purposes right? As one is taxed and the other isn't.

I think I must be the only person on here who isn't bothered about chocolate or jaffa cakes. i dont like Jaffa cakes, never have and chocolate i can easily do without, curry and beer, that's what I miss. Well and public transport and a decent newspaper amongst many other things.

I never liked Jaffa Cakes either, although the current advert for them is pretty funny. Haven't moved yet but i imagine i'll miss the vast selection of ciders we have here in the UK although it is starting to break through in America now :)

It seems a little trivial but I also miss the strict no smoking policy in the UK. Smokers please don't hate me LOL (my husband smokes), but I hate people smoking in bars and restaurants.

There is nowhere I have been that allows smoking in bars or restaurants. Does this vary by state?

The US is quite a way behind UK and Europe in many things like that.

In Maryland it has only become law recently to have to wear a seat belt and also just become illegal to use a cell phone when driving.

Hi Nobbie,

Im in Mississippi and all bars, restaurants and casinos allow smoking

I would imagine, like most things, it varies state by state.

It can even vary by city if there is no county or state law in place. Some places pass city ordinances that aren't the same as the next town. Something rural or outside the city limits might allow it.

People were smoking everywhere when I was in Denmark, not inside as far as I observed, but definitely in houses and cars with kids, something at least not done around my locale in Connecticut. I had to tell people off all the time for leaving their cigarette dangling near my kids face at a bus stop, etc. No common sense at all.

You could always do some grassroots campaigning to get it done. I'm sure a lot of people feel the way you do about it.

Dear god people, man up. Al this whinging about food is making us all look like sad weak tea drinking limeys.

Embrace the tastes of your new home, and I will be round later for the Digestives.

Was reading this as I was curious, and I just wanted to say, that we have a similar thing to Jaffa cakes made by LU called Pim's (one M).

People will say they are not as good I suppose, but they are a cookie thing with orange goo and chocolate on top. Should be in any grocery store.
