Things you'll miss from the UK, and how you'll compensate?

In amongst all the serious threads about approvals and denials - I'm interested in what you guys will miss about the UK when you move, and what measures you'll put in place to combat them!

I'll start:

British TV! I think I'll rely on YouTube and ExpatShield for that...

If it's one thing I hate - it's Hershey's. Luckily we both love Galaxy chocolate and plan on genuinely putting a lot of money aside for importing it...

If you're looking to still enjoy tv from home there's a really easy way to stream bbc and get access to bbc iplayer and 4od. If you use google chrome browser and download the hola free plugin it'll act as a proxy server and allow you access to bbc and 4od. Just passing on a tip someone here gave me.

I miss the chocolate, decent sausages, good cheese, irn bru and the good old NHS.

The one thing I miss is Cadbury! I go to the British emporium near Dallas just to buy the imported double deckers, fudge and of course the frys Orange cream

I miss Eastenders and Coronation Street sooooooo freakin much LOL!!!! I miss decent chocolate. I miss shopping in Tesco, New Look and Dorothy Perkins, Marks & Spencers, Boots and Superdrug. I miss everything being close together and within walking distance, and I miss public transport that can take you anywhere and everywhere. You don't HAVE to drive in the UK to get out and about like you do in America.

I miss Richmond Sausages and decent bread. I miss my mums Traditional sunday roast dinner with all the trimmings.

But most of all I miss my family and my friends. Even after being here 18 months, its getting harder for me instead of easier. I miss them so much the pain is almost physical. My parents are flying out for the first time to see me next month for 2 weeks and I hope it eases my home sickness.

I miss EVERYTHING. Like everything. I've been really homesick lately. I miss footpaths, being in a city, everything being close by. Even missed the cold weather. My husband was with me in England for a while so we have really nostalgic memories of it there, he even misses it too to some degree. I miss the nice oil burner/natural bath stuff place that used to be near us, the old buildings, the English history and things I could take him to like the Nottingham pageant. Prawn cocktail crisps, Walkers crisps in general, chocolate, pot noodles, kebabs, general British people and Britishyness just being up front and more crude. Ribena. So much I miss >.<. I really miss my mum as well.

Got some Ribena on the shelf behind me; it's the one staple my parents pretty much always bring over on their yearly trips.

Blimey, don't get me started, too late, Decent beer, sausages, bacon, bread (at a reasonable price too) TV (I do use Hola though keeps me sane), family, a decent curry, proper pubs, public transport, trains in particular.

Chocolate doesn't bother me and neither do soaps, but current affairs programmes and comedy.

I am lucky enough to go back and forth to the UK so I shall be stocking up on brown sauce, mustard, tea bags, shame I can bring back a few pounds of sausages with me.
