Hey Chicagoans,

Any news? I think one of you has an interview this week, please let us know how it goes!

I still haven't received an interview date. I'm leaving for Germany in two weeks and will be away for six weeks, so I think there's a big chance I'll have to reschedule the interview.

Our congresswoman's office got back to us, but it seems like they didn't really do any actual enquiries - just told us that Chicago is currently processing apps from July 2013 (i.e. the same info you can get online.) Anyway, our point wasn't really to have them ask where our case is (we know we're in a long queue like everyone else), but I was hoping they'd at least listen to our concerns about this crazy Chicago backlog.

Hey Guys - sorry I haven't chimed in. Mostly because there are no updates but I have been reading about others. ajhigh - we're pretty much the same boat. I'm glad someone from the congresswoman's office got back to you but it sounds like the "company line" - And whats on the uscis website isn't up to date anyways. Its data is as of April 30th - that's more than 2 months ago. So who knows where Chicago is currently. Atleast we know grazynka who is just a little over a month ahead of us is scheduled for next week. That means we should - SHOULD - be getting an interview notice some time this month. But who knows. Good luck to all the new applicants. Atleast the EAD should be done less than 3 months for you guys. Thank goodness Chicago doesn't handle those - LOL

And - grazynka - All the best to you. Congrats on getting this far and keep us posted on how it goes.

Hey, congrats on the job! Good luck on Tuesday, and we really appreciate you taking the time to keep us posted.

I got a text/email this morning that interview is set for August 11 - so almost seven months after submission. Come on, Chicago...

I need to reschedule it, I get back from Germany on August 31.

My case just moved for Interview and Testing... I know I might have to wait a little more since you guys are just being scheduled recently and you have filed way ahead of me...

However, does this mean you think we won't get any RFEs anymore?

Congrats, MayChicago.

Based on our timelines, you'll have to wait about 5 months to be scheduled, so 6 months from now til your actual interview...unless Chicago picks things up a bit.

My understanding is that RFEs can be issued at anytime during the process - including during the interview. But having said that, I assume that if your application presented any major issues (e.g. sponsor income insufficient, lack of key documents like birth certificate etc) that would have been flagged by now.

I am expecting to get an RFE in my interview - because my medical exam will have expired by then (thanks a lot, Chicago!!!)

Short update:

I had my interview appointment today at 11:15 am. We arrived about 30 minutes early, but were called in at about 12:20 pm.

The interview it self was very easy and took only 20 minutes max. The interviewer was still in training and a really sweet older guy. It was more like a get to know than an interview.

I got asked my personal information (name, birth date, address) and he was asking about my parents and my husbands name and birth date.

Also he asked if I work yet and the famous "no-questions". He wanted to know how we met and how many guests we had at our wedding.

My husband got asked about his job. And that was it.

He did take our bank and credit card statements, benefit notice and took my self printed pictures. Also he looked at our credit cards and health insurance cards.

In the end he said, that if there were no major documents missing I should receive the green card within 2 - 3 weeks. :)

It wasn't really nearly as bad as it always sounds :)

Ohhh, and btw: Germany won 7:1 :dancing: :joy:

Congrats grazynka!

We had our interview at 8. I think we were the first there. The gentlemen who interviewed us was serious and very professional. (And we had someone new in training who shadowed the whole interview)We got same questions like yours and when he asked for supporting documentation i gave him the whole binder with bank statements, car insurance, pay stubs, dog adoption stuff :) he just took it and ask if he can keep everything since he wanted to check everything later on his own time. After that he explained what should i do if any possible scenario happens and time frames. That made me little bit nervous. It looked its gonna take long time to make the decision but when i checked today around 5pm the status was changed to card production!!! YEYYYY!

Good luck to all who are still waiting! Be yourself and natural! We are same sex couple and had great experience!

Congrats to both of you, and thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how the interviews went!

I just rang Customer Service to put in a request to reschedule. I get back from my business trip on August 31 and hope that they'll be nice and schedule me sometime in September :)

Finally, this morning we got an update to our case and got an Interview Date for Aug 12. Only 7 months later. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

grazynka - thanks for the feedback. Its great to hear how someone local did. And congrats.

ajhigh - hope you get a date rescheduled soon and have a great time on your trip.

To all others who filed after January - atleast you can count on your EADs to be processes within 90 days or less. The AOS interview though, unless Chicago makes some changes, you'll be waiting a while.

I got my email for the interview app today. Five months after filing, so it looks like things are a little more fast. I will have my interview on august 25.

Oh wow, didn't you file in March? That's good news for you! I wish they could have cleared up the backlog a little earlier so I didn't have to go through the stress of trying to reschedule.

I sent in a request to reschedule two weeks ago but I haven't heard anything yet. Every time I call USCIS they tell me it's straightforward and "shouldn't" be an easy - it's the "shouldn't" that makes me nervous!

Anyway, I'm now overseas so hopefully I get notice soon that the interview has been moved to September, when I get back.
