Hello... i have been waiting for my biometrics appt for 26 days now. Did you guys waited this long too?

Hi MayChicago,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. USCIS received my application on 16 January, and I think it was about 10-20 days later that I got notice for biometrics (although I did an early walk-in on January 31). So it sounds like you're waiting longer than I was, but I think these things are really variable and as long as you got the notice of receipt of your application, you don't have anything to worry about.

Thanks Junior Member! I really do hope that my case flies fast but unfortunately I have to be more patient. Hopefully something good comes out soon!

You did an early walk-in? Which local office? Did they allow you?

I did an early walk-in at the place on Broadway. I don't recommend trying it, the security guard on duty when I went in was really insistent they don't take walk-ins. I pushed it a little harder than I'm proud of, because I had the day off work that day (I work in Milwaukee) and I didn't want to come back another day (I know, that's really not a great excuse). Eventually, after quite some time of me pestering him (again - not something I'm proud of, but I selfishly decided "what do I have to lose") he took it to a supervisor who let me in. It might have helped that there was literally one other person in the waiting area i.e. it was clearly not a busy time.

Hey everyone,

My husband (petitioner) had a call from our Congresswoman's office - we had written them a letter to complain about Chicago being about 4 months behind the USCIS processing goal of 5 months and just to bring that to her attention (we figured we're stuck in a long process, but maybe some changes can be made to improve the Chicago backlog for future applicants). They actually did go ahead and make enquiries on our case, and the office told us today that we are still "a couple of months away from being scheduled" (see timeline - our status updated to T&I mid-February). I'm not sure how accurate that is, but thought I'd post it here in case it's of interest to any other Chicagoans.

We're actually hoping the info we were given today is correct, because I'm away from mid July to the end of August, so a September interview date, although second best to the much-hoped-for early July interview date, would be OK.

I'm thinking of also getting my husband to complain to our local congressman. I applied for advance parole. My package was delievered by UPS, but got lost in the Chicago office. It seems really disorganised. Glad that people are starting to get interview dates though.

Finally I got my FP notice,,, do you guys think I should do early walkin?

I think that Chicago is so backlogged at the moment that doing an early walk-in is not going to make an appreciable difference to your overall timeline. You're likely to be waiting at least 6 months for your interview, so the one or two weeks 'head start' you might gain from an early walk-in (I say might, because I'm not 100% sure whether doing an early walk-in actually causes your application to move ahead in the queue) is probably not a big deal.

Also, the Broadway office is very opposed to walk-ins, so you could try but it's very possible they'll send you away and tell you to come back on your appointed day. The exception would be if you've already booked a flight somewhere or have other solid proof that you really can't come on the appointed day.

I agree. I didnt do early walk in and even if I did I still would have waited the same time. Priority date Nov 25th, interview scheduled after more than 7 months wait. Well, exactly 7 months but it got cancelled and rescheduled again.

Hi,

Acording to what I've seen and my own experience, EAD are approved at about day number 65 to 75 after filed. Also, there is no difference if you do an early walk-in in your fingerprints as I've read. For my particular case, it took exactly 36 days after bio app to get the aproval on my EAD

Were you able to get your eads in time though? How many days after fp were you able to get them?
