(CNN) -- For more than a month, a U.S. Marine and Afghanistan war veteran has been held in a Tijuana, Mexico, prison, fighting for his release after being charged with a crime he says he did not commit.

Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi said he accidentally crossed into Mexico around 10 p.m. on March 31 with three personal firearms while on his way to meet friends in San Ysidro, California.

Is it possible to accidentally cross the border?

Yes.

The Marine reservist, Andrew Tahmooressi, 25, who is from Weston, Fla., outside Miami, drove his black Ford F-150 pickup through the San Ysidro, Calif., border crossing into Tijuana on April 1, carrying his worldly possessions, including three U.S.-registered firearms.

Tahmooressi, who suffers from what his mother calls “directional dysfunction,” got lost near the border after dark. He and his family say he took a wrong turn into Mexico.

I support deportation for everyone that shows up for deportation. Democrats and Republicans alike. I also support the continued efforts of INS as the law currently stands.

Yes.

How? I mean, I've only been to the border once and it was obviously the border; you had to pass guards and a gate, etc. Is it different where he crossed?

I haven't been to Mexico in a while, but especially late at night, and in the early morning hours, l recall nobody pays much attention to you as you enter Mexico.
