Questions regarding I-129F

Hello all,

I recently started the K1 for my fiance. With this process being completely new to us, I have found VJ to be extremely helpful and informative.

However, if I may, I would like to ask a few questions regarding the I-129F filing:

  • My fiance and I have been in a relationship since 2009. Since then, I have made 3 trips to VN (2010, 2012, 2014). I understand the USCIS is only interested in proof of having met within the past 2 years, but would it be okay to include pictures, receipts from 2010 for frontloading purposes?
  • My parents were unable to join me to VN this year, but they have already met my fiance and her parents in 2012 on multiple occasions—would it be necessary to include pictures of our parents together even if we are not in the photo? Or should that be saved for the interview?
  • We have not been previously married. Are any of our Certificate of Single Status (Single Status Affidavit) required or recommended for the interview in VN?
  • My fiance knows of only 3 relatives in the US (grandfather’s sister [California], mother’s cousin’s sister [Georgia], brother-in-law’s aunt [Michigan]). Her family has not had contact with these people since they left VN.
  1. Are these relatives considered “close” enough to her family to list?
  2. She does not know the address nor phone number of these relatives.
  3. Should this document of US Relatives be included with in the I-129F or saved for the interview?
  4. Can this document be typed by me and notarized in the US?

If someone would please advise, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time!

- It won't hurt to include evidence longer than 2 years. For proof of the relationship more evidence is always better!

- Including pictures with parents is probably a good idea at all stages of the application since its more evidence towards showing that you are in a bona fide relationship

- I don't remember the I-129F asking about relatives of the Beneficiary in the US.

You don't need proof of the genuineness of your relationship at the I-129(f) stage. You do, however, need it at the interview.

All you need in that subject area for the 1-129(f) is that you met in person at least once in the last 2 years. Photos are good proof but not conclusive proof. Ever hear of Photoshop? Add to the evidence pile things like boarding passes, receipts for plane tickets, visas, visa stamps, hotel receipts, credit card receipts to show you were spending money there. Things like that.

Thank you Al422. I appreciate your response!

I have already compiled the evidence that you mentioned. I would just like to have clarification of my original questions, especially for a Vietnamese consulate.
