Am I a preparer joint sponsor question

Hello,

I am wondering if by filling out forms for a joint sponsor I am qualifies to sign as a preparer. It is simply much easier for me to regroup the information with my joint sponsor and I'm wondering how this works. Do they still sign the form or is my signature at the end in lieu of theirs acceptable.

When the forms talk about a "preparer" they mean a lawyer or other professional. You can do most of the work but I'm certain that you are not allowed to sign on their behalf (especially when they will be on the hook legally and financially) unless you have an official power of attorney.

They will need to sign their own forms, and you don't have to put yourself down as preparer. (although I suppose you can if you want to!)
