They're both meant to humiliate and demean. One's a bigger deal.

When it comes to hate speech or making bigoted comments there is a difference. There is history and context to it and yeah it is different.

Most White people are not offended by words that may be bigoted. Seriously if I called you a honky you'd probably laugh. It's not the same as if you called me a N-word. There are two separate and distinct context and origins but most importantly history. It has nothing to do with being thin skinned or overly sensitive, or uptight. At a strictly racial level you've never been pre-judged based on a stereotype of an entire race so naturally perhaps you may think a Cooley image of an Asian is funny. I mean Jerry Lewis partially built his career on making fun of Asians eyes and buck teeth. Because we still live in a racist society your reaction and my reaction are different. Don't accuse me of being sensitive or Angry Black Man just because you can't relate to how I feel or react when I see these images. We're different you and I - and that also is Ok. I don't expect you to get it, but at least recognize and respect my position and not dismiss it.

Matter of fact the only word that I can think of that one can call someone White that will piss them off is..... Racist.

You know I should go on the record here and say I think this "black man cleaning device" is quite offensive. I def do not condone this type of blatant stereotyping/racism in anyway. I assume people would know I think that coming into this thread but I prob shouldn't.

There definitely are people on VJ who have no issue at all with the "black man cleaning device." However, not a single one of them has posted in this thread. So, I really can't understand why the conversation has taken this turn.

I'm not uptight what gave you that impression. I'm sure Paula Deen is friendly too and can cook some delicious Mac n cheese what's your point?

I didn't call GandD anything. I'm just pointing out that in a subtle way he was defending the images by trying to equate some hillbilly caricature to caricatures used as a device to humiliate Black people. So now I'm the bad guy :)

GandD also is on the record for saying he thinks most of those images of Blacks are funny. Who am I to get upset at what other people find funny. He could be dancing to AL Jolsten records in front of a mirror in tighty whities for all I care. Point is don't make me out to be the bad guy by providing the historical context of the OP. It was White people that started it. Do I blame all White people today for it? No. Do I think all White people condone it, of course not.

I write my own narrative, don't need you to write it for me Teddy. You been busting my balls ever since what the uppity thread?

Busting your balls? Hardly. I'm trying to point out that you come across as a condescending ####### and you have a serious chip on your shoulder. In the short time that you've been here almost all of you posts contain some type of derogatory comment towards people who don't deserve it. You've gotten on some of the nicest people here for the most ridiculous reasons. Try getting to know some of the folks here before you decide to label them and talk down to them. The way you come across in your posts makes it very easy to dislike you. That may be the look you're going for, or perhaps you just don't care. Either way is fine with me, but don't act so surprised and go calling out the race police the next time someone refers to you as being uppity, that's how you present yourself.

I respect your opinion

What word could I use that is specific to black people that would be the same as honkey or cracker?

You are correct in that I do not care what others think of me. I'm not here to make friends. But you specifically can find your ### (should I say ####### to make it more acceptable?) to the ignore button and add my handle to it. Not just you but anyone else who feels like you.

That's what I thought, thanks for clarifying.

My wife's family was watching that one day. It was very awkward. They like that movie. I don't know how. Super racist.
