Using Infopass

Wow it has been like forever since I have been on here. I was a CR1, now a IRI with a 10 yr green card. Or I was until my wallet was stolen. Tip for you all DO NOT LEAVE YOUR GREEN CARD IN YOUR WALLET!!!! It has been a nightmare trying to get a new one. Anyway my problem is I have to go back to Canada for my mother's 95th birthday this month. I figured I would have my new card by now. I sent in the new application I-90 on March 24th, had my biometrics done on April 16th. Now they tell me to make an appt to get a temporary pass to leave the country. Now when I go to make said appt I get a all but one day blank calender. Its shows available only the 21st (which is too late), everything before and after is black. Is that how it should look? Can I choose another date? I need a date before the 15th as I plan to fly out on the 16th. My husband and I were in Canada for first two weeks of April and I was loaded with paperwork in case they gave me a hard time at the border. No hard time at all. But don't want to push my luck. Getting the replacement card cost us another $450.00. Any help would be appreciated.

You are required by law to carry your green card on you at all times, so your wallet is the best place for it if you like to follow the law.

Obtaining an I-551 stamp in your passport through an Infopass is going to be the best way to be able to travel internationally. New Infopass slots open daily, so you should continue to check (I see some very early appointments in the next couple of days at my local office, for example), but you may well have left it too late.

Actually when I got my green card it said to not carry it with you at all times, only when you travel. I have a Arizona DL and other ID so don't need it.

HOw do you find different dates. I can only see one date on my inforpass calender?

Your green card carries no such direction to break federal law.

It is federal law that any adult 18 or over who has a green card must carry it on their person at all times; failure to do so is a federal misdemeanor crime punishable by up to 30 days in prison and / or a fine of up to $100.

8 USC Section 1304(e):

"Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d). Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both."
