Marriage vs Fiance visa, which is a faster process ?

Hi All, I am new here and have a question . No one i know can give me a good answer so I found this website .

I am a US citizen and would like to bring my sweetheart to US and get married here . Is it faster to bring him here on fiance visa or to marry him oversees and bring him on a marriage visa? I read somewhere that fiance visa is better and faster to but what are your experiences?

Fiancé K1 is faster... But more expensive.... 6-9 months compared to 12-15 for spouse...

I-130

03/21/2009 - I-130 Mailed to Chicago lockbox

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!

Currently it still seems like the fiance visa is faster, but it takes longer once your sweetheart is in the country before they can work or get a drivers licence etc. If it's just a question of getting them to the USA asap, go with the k1.

We went the K1 route which seemed very quickly. We didn't have any hiccups and everything felt like it fell into place getting his social, drivers license, EAD and AOS. Sure there were times it was stressful without him here but we made the most of our time apart and he even visited a month while we were waiting for his I129F to be approved.. But to each his own :) best luck to you guys

March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
