Hi there,

After getting married on the k1 visa, my wife and I will be living in California, does this mean that my AOS case will be processed at the CSC? If so would we have to do an interview? I've heard that AOS applicant that go to the CSC often don't get asked to go to an interview.

Thank for your help!

Ehhm, no...all applications are routed to NBC(the case receipt will start with MSC) and then if you're going to have an interview, you case will be transferred to your local field office. Good luck!

You can't know for sure if yours will be an interview waiver case. Waiver cases are determined at USCIS' discretion & getting the waiver isn't always good. Getting interviewed can possibly shorten your wait time, which is a good thing.

Sein oder Nichtsein, das ist heir die Frage.

Agreed with cazzers and Holly. All AOS applications will route as mentioned. and there is no guarantee that anybody would go or not go for an AOS interview. It's all up to the discretion of the adjudicator assigned to your case. Literally, the only thing that people can do is wait for any notice from uscis, aside from making sure your AOS files and required docs are complete.

For AOS, the location for adjudication does not depend on where you live. They all go to NBC.

It used to be that from the NBC, they were either transferred to CSC for processing without an interview being required, or to your local office for an interview. However they are no longer transferred to CSC. Instead it will either remain at NBC and you will get a notice of waiver of interview, or it will be sent to your local office for an interview.

Bear in mind that usually the ones that are sent to the local office for interview are usually processed much faster, so being selected for interview is not necessarily a bad thing.
