Here's something I wish somebody would have told us -- we did the Medical more than 10 days before the interview and they barely just sent off to Frankfurt in time for the interview -- one of the consular workers literally left us standing at the counter to go check the most current post.

Make sure and keep on top of the doctors office so they don't delay releasing your visa :)

Thanks for that information! We will be sure to follow that advice!

Wife just did the medical exam today. No problems. They were a little busy at the doc's office in Frankfurt, but once she go finished with the bloodwork, everything was very fast.

She is pregnant,so they skipped the X-Ray.

Looking forward to the interview on the 26th now!

***UPDATE***

My wife and I went to her IR-1 interview his morning at the Frankfurt Consulate.

Her appointment was for 9:00, we arrived at 8:40.

Were only people in line on the right side, walked directly to window, showed passports and invitation letter, got paper ticket.

Went through security, walked into main building and checked in. They gave us the instructions for the rest of the process, told us to go directly to window 22 first. Pay the $230 (172) and have a seat.

Five minutes pass and my wife's number is called to go to window 19. I then went to the snack bar for breakfast.

About 9:20, we are called to a different kiosk by name. The official asked if she would like to talk in German or English, swore her in, and asked a few questions:

*where did we meet

*when and why did we come to Germany

*does our daughter have a US passport

He then told us that her Visa was approved and we should expect it in the mail within 1 week.

We walked out of the Consulate at 9:26.

Super fast, super easy, and the people at the Consulate were all nice and friendly!

Did your wife's medical results get to the consulate on time for your interview? Somebody mentioned in an earlier post they had trouble with it getting there on time.

Thanks

You should schedule your medical exam as soon as you get your interview appointment.

It's kind of a delicate balance ---the validity of your visa starts from the day of successful medical exam. That's why they make you wait so long. On the other hand, as you saw with our experience, even 10 days before was cutting it close.

Now I should clarify -- we live in Berlin -- and apparently there is "something with the Berlin doctor and paperwork" (haha) but that's why I say be a bit cautious about getting ahead of the game. Otherwise, also weigh up your option if you will need as much time as possible, due to the validity date.

Thanks again for your infos...

So what's gonna happen if the consulate does not get the results on time? I wouldn't like to schedule the medical too early bc - like you said - this is cutting my visa's validity shorter...

The medical was there. The doc's office in FRA said they usually have them at the Consulate in 3 days.

Visa arrived in the mail July 3!
