Birth Certificate Translation

How much should I expect to pay for a translation of a Canadian birth certificate? Does it need to be notarized or can it just be translated? Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I believe that anyone who speaks both French and English can do it, they just need to attach a sheet that says "I, Francophone English, have translated this document. I am fluent in both French and English. Sincerely, Francophone English."

(Obviously Francophone English is a stand-in for the translator's name)

How can I get verification on this? And I assume that my husband can not do the translation on his own BC...

I had a friend which is fluent in both english and italian translate my italian marriage statement and she also signed an Afftdavit of Translation:

"I [typed name], certify that I am fluent in English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________
Date Typed Name
Address"

Also it is pretty controversial whether the petitioner/beneficiary can translate the documentation. Some people of VJ translated by themselves others say you cannot do it.

In the link you provided it says that a certified translation must be provided, does this not mean it must be translated by a certified translator? Was your marriage certificate accepted this way? It would be much easier if this would work, i just dont want to receive a RFE or checklist because I didnt do it correctly, dont want to have the process delayed!
