I dont think somebody gonna stop u on a street and ask for ur status.If u have a Driver Licence and ID,it already mean u r legally here

Just because you have a drivers license DOES NOT mean you are here legally.

Your immigration status can change during the AOS process and ordered to leave the United States. Yet, you still carry a valid drivers license. So a valid drivers licenses does not mean your legal on your US Immigration status.

Please keep in mind that some dates are only known after receipt of another document.
For example, the USPS Form 3811. The stamped receiving date was not know until the original Form 3811 was received on 07/13/2013 1:30 p/m CST.

I had valid DL during the whole time I was out of status ( several years ) and that didn't prove I was legally here by any means. No one is going to stop you on the street to ask you for GC; having your GC it is a requirement stated by USCIS in the letter that comes with the GC. My choice is to follow their rules. Anyone else can choose different and that is fine with me.

Another thing about getting DL with EAD, is that it has the same expiration date as EAD ( ond year) and mine says it so with RED CAPITAL letters on top of it. If I get pull over due a traffic incident, when showing my renewed DL they will want to find out why it has a specifit expiration date wich is less than the rest of the peoplo who are not conditional residents.

Yes, Texas drivers license do point that fact out in RED UPPER CASE letters. My wives DL is the same way.

Getting a Texas drivers license for a K-1 visa fiancee in the state of Texas is a major pain in the ###. Not to mention, it is a long damn process.

Please keep in mind that some dates are only known after receipt of another document.
For example, the USPS Form 3811. The stamped receiving date was not know until the original Form 3811 was received on 07/13/2013 1:30 p/m CST.

Getting a Texas drivers license for a K-1 visa fiancee in the state of Texas is a major pain in the ###. Not to mention, it is a long damn process.

Good to know. Just to clarify, you know that _none_ of us on this thread have done the K1 process right? This is the AOS thread for May 2014 filers from work, student or tourist visas.

If you go to the other AOS progress report forum (the one that says family visas) you will find a similar thread with folks who also have AOS from a k1 visa.

So.... It's been a while. Been living with my monster-in-law for 5 months now, working on rfe's with my hubby and....

We were approved!

On November 13th we had our interview in San Antonio (went super fast, he didn't even look at all the proof we brought, or asked us marriage related Q's.) He just went over the wedding pics, and asked how we met ( I lost my voice two days prior to the interview and so had to whisper) and said " so here, I'll get you approved" and that's that! A year and a half and we're finally going to introduce my dad to my husband in Israel! All we need now is to get out of this hell hole :/
