Update: Sorry I haven't been keeping y'all updated.

How about my husband got this email from the lawyer YESTERDAY!

We received a letter from USCIS stating that this new address was vacant. Are you currently living there now? Also, was it vacant in August?

Are....you....serious?!

Since the lawyer is not answering the phone, the only thing I can assume is that immigration came by the apartment in AUGUST and saw that it was indeed vacant. Because it was vacant. To make a long story short, when we got ready to move in after we signed our lease, we discovered that there was no water access and our slum lord took 3.5 weeks to bootleg some pipes from my mom's apartment next door so we would have water (don't ask). So we could not move in until the next month.

My issue is that the lawyer should have notified us THE SAME DAY he got that letter.

Interview at Federal Plaza NYC this morning at 8.30am

The interviewer was a very nice lady, latin background. She really made us feel comfortable and was very sweet, but very professional too. She asked us basics questions as date of birth, how did we meet, where and when, if we know each others family.

She told me my case is 99,9% approved, she just needs to go through it again and I will know by today or tomorrow and will receive my green card by mail.

However, she did not tell me about the temporary 2 years green card at all... is that normal ?

I just can't decide: bring him or not to the interview...

I did see a couple who brought a toddler to their interview when I went, but I don't know if the kid was being applied for as well.

I'd probably say to decide based on what's more convenient - I'm sure you have enough proof without bringing him along (and there are always photos), plus the fact that you have a kid together bodes well for the legitimacy of your relationship. If he's the quiet and patient type, it's probably not a big deal to bring him but if he might have a meltdown in the middle of questioning, that might not help your or the IO's nerves.

One thought I had was having a friend join us at the interview location, that was if we get pushed later I can still nurse (prepping milk for an unknown timeframe is annoying). But then he stay in the waiting area with her while we are in the interview itself.

I'm not sure how feasible that is - the interview area isn't in the same area as biometrics and infopass waiting.

I would be extremely surprised if your friend was allowed too far into the building. Regardless, you will need to go all the way in up to the interview waiting area at your scheduled time. So, if there are any delays from that point on, there's really nothing you can do but wait. At most your friend can probably join you up to the entrance of the building, which in the grand scheme of things will defeat the purpose of bring them along in any case since you will need to go in. In order to go into the biometrics/infopass waiting area too, I believe you need some form of notice, though I am not absolutely positive since I have not had to do it. I would imagine the friend would get stopped at the security check point where they inspect your documents to allow entry.

Your best bet would be to leave your daughter behind and not take her to the interview at all assuming you have someone who can watch her. I doubt you have to have your daughter there in person to 'prove' that you have a child together. If need be, you can take her birth certificate and pictures along as added evidence. How old is your daughter? Have you included her on your joint tax return as a dependent? That is yet another piece of evidence showing you have a daughter together.

The risk of your daughter acting up during the interview and irritating the officer would outweigh the reward IMHO. You never know the kind of day the IO has had, or if he/she is or isn't fond of kids. You want to do as little as possible to cause any aggravation to the IO.

It is ultimately your call since you know your child and her tendencies to sit still in one place for a long time (potentially) and listen to you and quieten down if she starts acting up.
