I notice that most people, with regular timing, were receiving their EAD card after 70+ days.

It has only been 38 days for us so I'm thinking the request had something to do with it.

*Adjusting from B2 visa (2014)*

5-13: Applications Recieved (I130,I131,I765,I485) <Married on 4-16>

6-10: Biometrics Appointment Completed!

7-09: I-485 updated to Testing & Interview + Called USCIS to request expedited EAD card.

7-14,15: Proof for expedite reason requested & faxed the next day

7-16,18: Expedite request under review & EAD card in production! <expedite request success>

7-23, 24: EAD card shipped via USPS and recieved!

7-29: Applied for SS card in office.

8-6: SS card received!

10-16: Interview day!!!!

So I have my SSN from my J1 visa and my EAD card is in production, can I, lets say start working using my SSN while EAD is not in my hands yet???

Does your SS card has any special note saying you are only good to work with INS/USCIS authorization? mine has it so I need to change that before even attempt to apply for a job for obvious reasons. I would say it also depends on your employer if they don't mind you to start working without EAD in hand but showing them that the card is in production and on it's way

yeah it says something like DHS authorization needed, but I was reading here on the forum, that you can work without a card after you been approved for 90 days :)

And what are the obvious reasons of changing SSN before applying? I desperately need a job right now tho

My husband is only one soul provider and we have a baby so even a little more of income would help us tons, considering that we live in area based on tourism and season ends in october, so I think I am just going to give it a try

The first thing I am doing when I get my EAD if it comes before AOS interview is to update my SS card and renew my DL which expires next Nov in my birthday. I need to change my name to a married name, address and of course renew it. Once I get that done I will go to the SS office to update my card.

@ MorganSpice I don't think it hurts to start looking for jobs now. You will get your card in a few days and can inform them of your situation. If they want you and would accept an EAD card then you are good to go. Besides you will get your green card in a few weeks. Unless of course you have started working as we speak. At your interview you may be asked questions about your current job. I don't know if the IO would take note of the date you resumed and figure out it started before you updated your status with the SSA.

If they want you and would accept an EAD card then you are good to go. Besides you will get your green card in a few weeks. Unless of course you have started working as we speak. At your interview you may be asked questions about your current job. I don't know if the IO would take note of the date you resumed and figure out it started before you updated your status with the SSA.

Do you think she may be asked about her her current job because she had her EAD expedited only? I haven't read anything about being asked about whether the applicant is currently working or not in the interview updates that other members post, the standard is to go thru YES/NO questions on I-485 and basic information on I-130 such as names, address, etc and depending on the IO there could be more questions, but usually that is it plus showing the evidence/documents in original.

09/29/16 (Day 59) Biometrics appointment letter received dated 9/24/16

10/11/16 (Day 71) Biometrics completed. *Also, received on the mail response letter from previous service request filed with copy of Biometrics appointment letter.

11/11/17 (Day 466) Case Status changed to New Card Production

11/16/17 (Day 471) Case Status indicate  New Card being sent on the mail .:dance::dance::D:dance::dance::dance:

11/17/17 (Day 472) I-797  Notice of Removal of Condition being approved received in the mail.

11/20/17 (Day 475/15 months 18 days) New Lawful Permanent Resident arrived in the mail; card in hand at last! :dancing:

True, but with these guys you never know. You wanna have a ready answer for any question. I thought of that because this is a significant change in her status since she filed. In light of the question she asked, it would be best not make the wrong move and work without authorization, even if it is for a few days.

The first thing I am doing when I get my EAD if it comes before AOS interview is to update my SS card and renew my DL which expires next Nov in my birthday. I need to change my name to a married name, address and of course renew it. Once I get that done I will go to the SS office to update my card.
