@Sheepo: Have you received the letter or just an email/text? The details of the RFE would help you know exactly what is required. Did the initial affidavit of support give sufficient proof that your family income is above the poverty line? If not, then I'd say sit with hubby and start thinking up close friends & family that can be joint sponsors. Still start a new post and let those who have experienced this offer more guidance. All the best.

Just got an rfe for financial evidence. So nervous. My husband doesn't have a job and I've been supporting him for the past year. We can't get a joint sponsor either since his mom is unable to support us. Help!

oh dear. that does sound nerve racking! hang in there. :/

Sorry to hear it, sheepo. :( It's probably best for you to post at topic in the main adjustment of status forum if you need guidance. I don't think the experts check these progress threads much.

good advice. i might add it's possible to use any US citizen to support you... eg a close family friend if the RFE is too much.

I figured I'd chime in, since I am also a May 2014 filer.

My package was received on May 20th, I got my biometrics done (with appointment) on June 18th, got an RFE dated June 13th the next day, for financial evidence. Put that together and it was sent in yesterday (June 23rd), to arrive at USCIS by Friday, June 28th (FedEx Ground).

So, that's that. My friend says the RFE came really quickly, it might be good news if they're already looking at my application. But I'm still waiting the long wait.

Hi everybody!

It's been a while!!! my sister came to visit us for the summer all the way from Lithuania, so we are busy busy visiting places :)

I am glad to see everyone's cases are moving :) yaaay

I did my biometrcis in Milwaukee on my app day, even tho I think if I tried walk in it wouldnt be a problem, I was there all alone by myself and the staff was so nice to me, I was kinda surprised thought they are all mean and dont really like immigrants lol

Sheepo sorry about your RFE, I think I will be getting one too! because instead of sending all pages of my husbands tax return I only added 3 (the summary of tax return), I am not sure if it's not ok, but I have a feeling RFE is coming to me :) anyways how long we have to wait now until something happens after biometrics?

It seems EADs come in 30-60 days after biometrics. You're still in the long wait though, just like me ;) Waiting for background check to be done and hoping for an interview date that is not in the next eon

I bolded the text because I wanted to ask you/tell you something: did you sent your husband's pay stubs and a current employment letter showing income as well? If you did, you shouldn't get an RFE. That's what we got ours for, we also sent the tax return forms and W-2s but they wanted the employer stuff.

May i ask if the officer highlighted a certain item on the list? Fid it highlight a co-sponsor? We're working on getting a joint sponsor now.

Morganspice, thank you for your support. I hope it works out for everyone here.

Hey sheepo, I'm really sorry you are having difficulties, I just read about it today :(

The yellow RFE paper just said we needed to prove current income by sending 6 months worth of paychecks or an employer letter (we did both, and then some). In our case, we have numbers that add up to more than the required amount, we just didn't clearly show that they were current. They said nothing about co-sponsors.

Good luck finding a sponsor! Remember, anyone (friends too) can be a joint sponsor, and it doesn't mean they HAVE TO give you money.

Yeah, we got a pink one saying that he doesn't meet the requirements with the "12 months of bank statements" and "if you need a joint sponsor" highlighted. We will ask his sister tomorrow and hope for the best. I appreciate your response:) good luck to you and bliss.

That is so weird. I remember in the instructions they said that was optional. I only sent in the paystubs so I hope they don't ask for a letter too.

In our case I sent 6 months of paystubs from my husband + the last three years of tax returns. He also got the employer letter describing his job and his salary and it said that he was still working for his company. If anyone needs a template I can help.

From what friends and some lawyers have told me (I asked some questions on Avvo for free) you need to be creative with the paperwork you send and obviously, the more the merrier. That's why I sent all those papers, even though they were optional. We had no problem getting/asking for them.

My only concern in my case is our living situation. We've been living together for one year and a half, but the only person on the lease is him, since he has rent control and if we ask the landlord to change this, she'd probably would require a new lease and current price market (which in SF, will mean like $1,000 more a month... no way!) - I asked about this and the lawyers said that I can show all the checks I've been giving to my husband to split our rent and explain the situation, and they will totally understand. Plus other papers that can show cohabitation. Just be creative if you don't have what they ask for.

No, *I* got an RFE for paystubs and letter ;) Because we only sent the original offer letter, and that didn't show it was current employment.

Pay stubs and tax returns should be enough.
