I applied for an EAD though I am not seeking a job yet. I guess people wanna have it if job opportunities come up during the AOS processing. Also if for any reason the AOS takes longer than 5-6 months, then they can get their SSN, drivers licenses and so on while it's pending. Besides it costs nothing more than the extra pages of forms and photos.

Also, since you are so worried, why not have the petitioner call and talk to the tier 2 people and find out what is up?? Then you will know what is going on rather than worry. You might also be able to make an info pass appointment, but I don't know enough about it to know it it applies here.

Hi CdnRN, how can you get to talk to tier2 officer? just ask them? It has been 28 days since I sent out my AOS and I have not received my biometrics appointment yet so I start to be very worried about it.

Call the uscis customer service number, usually the first person that speaks to you will try and answer your questions. Give dates of when your package was mailed, date delivered and the fact that you haven't received any information within the promised 10 days. He should offer to transfer you to a Tier 2 officer if not then insist.

Call early about 8 am so you are not put on hold for long or offered a call back. I called at 10 am and had to wait 1 hr for the tier 2 to return my call.

Well, yesterday I received my biometrics letter (June 17th at 3pm appointment date) so today I successfully walked in!!! It was a very long wait but everyone there was patient with me (I had my newborn with me) and it is DONE! Next up, I wait... :)

well done! is anyone allowed to do a walk-in ahead of their appointment date? do you think it speeds up the process?

They didn't want to let me, as it was busy but I was emphatic. I hope it speeds it up. We shall see. I read on here that the EAD comes about 38 days after the biometrics so who knows???

Just got back from the asc office in the Bronx. We were there at 8am ( after we were there the day before we were just a bit too late and got lucky enough to be accepted for today at 8am) and it took us, literally, half an hour to get everything done! They were really nice and courteous. Tip: they do take a picture of you, so do your makeup! I decided not to because I was freakin' tired and I kind of regret it:/ (this is for men and women alike! If you want to, not a must:) ). Now, change of address.
