Received my green card today!

I also received the form I-797C NOA for the I130. Under the notice type it says approval.

Then there is something I don't really understand and that is: "After review we have decided to treat the appeal filed in the above case as a Service motion to reopen or Service motion to reconsider. You will receive a notice under separate cover once all action has been completed."

We never filed any appeal so I am guessing USCIS decided to reopen the case after we got approved?

My wife called the customer service number today and spoke to 2 people. The first lady said there is some conflicting information and that she will transfer the call to a higher officer. After 25 minutes of waiting we got a call from USCIS and the officer said we should ignore the wording of the form.

My hunch is telling me I should have got I-797(without C) and the wording should say your I130 has been approved.

The last thing on the form is notice which actually says "Although this application has been approved USCIS reserves the right to verify the information submitted in this application..."

I'd send it all by mail, that way it is all together. Once it has been sent you can apply for a job and request it be expedited. But as you say, you may have your interview first. It sounds like others have been okay, it's why I have trouble believing what the IO said.

But you could apply for the EAD, and if you get an RFE at the interview, at least you will know you have an EAD coming to help you get state ID.

I am not sure, but believe once it has been submitted, and you have a job offer you phone USCIS and ask them, and then fill in a form with proof of a job offer. Then they adjudicate it and respond within 30 days.

I'm sure there is a guide here or better yet instructions on the USCIS website. A number of threads pop up about it here also.

I had a valid work permit that remained in affect until I had my EAD/AP so I had no need to try to expedite it myself.

Received my green card today!
