The bank bailout was not Obama, that was Bush. The stimulus was what every administration in recent memory had done when faced with a recession. Bush did two of those in as many years as he came into office - one largely ineffective package in 2001 and a follow-up package in 2003 in the face of the jobless recovery he was faced with. No Tea Party protest to be seen anywhere even though those stimulus packages wiped out the budget surplus and created huge deficits without any apparent economic benefit. But the Obama administration being faced with an epic recession - a recession of a magnitude not seen in a century - should just have stood by and do nothing? Really? Why? Important to remember, too, that there were huge tax cuts in the stimulus package. Something the Tea Party is supposedly for. And yet they fought it. Why? I know the answer and deep down you know it too.

But these were still significant tax cuts which they profess to support. Only they don't. At least not when Obama proposes them. So it's not the policy they oppose but the person.
