Hello VJers

I wanted to know if it is it possible to delay the K1 visa interview?

I saw on this page (

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=592492 ) that is is, but I am not in the UK but in the Shengen area. Also this thread seems quite old..

I would like to know if it is possible to push the date and if yes for how long.

Also, can I enter the usa before the interview?

Thank you very much !!

Yes, email the Embassy and request to reschedule it.

if yes for how long.

Embassy-specific, some are any available date and others are back of the line.

Also, can I enter the usa before the interview?

Yes and Maybe.......CBP will see the K-1 in their system. You'll have to provide compelling reasons that you will return to the US before your visit time requirement is up. You may be turned away.

I don't understand? You've been petitioning for the K-1 visa to immigrate to the US and marry your USC fiance(e) and permanently reside there and now you want to delay that?

Are you at the interview stage already? if so, please update your timeline. :)

From what I've read, you can delay your interview, but perhaps email your embassy and ask them specifically.

Good luck! :)

I don't want to delay but i may have to. My mom is pushing me to stay and help her with some things. She doesnt accept my choice of moving away. I just hope delaying it and doing all this could make her accept my man an my decosion to leave and get married

Are you an adult or a child? What's more important to you, your life or your mom's things?

Then you should be able to do two things:

Delay the interview....which will delay the issuance of the K-1 visa.

Once issued, you have 6 month within which to use it. So by my estimate you could delay moving for about eight months.

Why would you need to visit the US during this period? That option should be taken off the table. If you USC fiance understands, then they should understand your need to stay a bit to help your mother with her understanding of your future life.

Now that I think about it, you have three options:

The third: Cancel the K-1 and refile later when your life is ready to get together with your fiance(e).

Thank you, we will probably just push the date of the interview a little :)

It's just to be together, he can only stay in the schengen area for 3months :(

My mom means a lot to me, I already lost my dad a few years ago and if I can get her to somehow accept my choices I would take it. I would like her to be in my life, forever. But if she still doesn't accepts, I'll let it be.

You cannot delay anything until the point comes to book the interview.
